The king of boxing Floyd Mayweather's retirement is likely to come in the not-too-distant future, and with that in mind he is showing early signs that he means business with Mayweather Promotions.
Sources close to Ringnews24 can confirm that super middleweight Andre Dirrell is being lined up to sign for Mayweather Promotions. Dirrell's contract with Gary Shaw Promotions has expired and he is expected to sign with Mayweather Promotions any day now.
Dirrell's last fight was against Darryl Cunningham on the 30th December 2011, which he won by a second-round KO.
With Dirrell competing in one of boxing's hottest divisions, Mayweather will be looking to create some exciting match-ups for the fans. Possibilities include a rematch with Froch - the only man to beat Dirrell. There is also Bute, Pavlik, Stieglitz, Abraham, Groves, Rodriguez to name a few and let's not forget the Super Six Champion Andre Ward.
Sources close to Ringnews24 say that Mayweather Promotions are also desperate to sign Yuriorkis Gamboa, but he seems tied up with Top Rank for the foreseeable.
Currently in Mayweather's stable are Jessie Vargas, Ishe Smith, Deandre Latimore and Mayweather himself.

I think it's a good move if he did, people say what they want but the fact mayweather can make guys like vargas and latimore names we even know and get them on showtime etc shows he has connections and any boxer who signs with him will get exposure if nothing else....It's up to that boxer to take advantage.
Dirrel wont go far wrong with Mayweather, he'l get decent fights and decent money, what more could he want(apart from him and Ward avoiding each other)
LOL this happened? and people think his women beater will strive as a promoter?
odlh is a cross dressing coke head and he strives as a promoter. whats your point? lol...ur on a roll today bro.
That's very true. They could also get that MW prospect from Detroit J'Leon Love, he looks like a decent prospect. If they can Andre Direll and if Gamboa can somehow get away from Top Rank, though unlikely as of right now, and sign with Mayweather, it'd make it a bit more legit. But I still see Golden Boy doing to main promoting for those fighters, just like they do with Jessie Vargas right now. I don't even think Floyd is a lecensed promoter as of right now.
ah ok, you just answered my question. I was wondering how this whole mayweather promortions thing actually functions as ive heard that they dont really have a promoters licsense..yet anyway, so maybe they'll just keep working with golden boy for the time being as they have done with jesse vargas. I find this parternship with golden boy interesting for some reason and maybe this will be a step ahead in a good direnction
Jesse Vargas made 100k his last fight. There are veteran fighters that have never gotten half as much. People need to understand that many fights they see the fighters are making 20k or less. Mayweather promotions gets money for their fighters. Thats what they are supposed to do. Lets see where the company is in a afew years then we can better debate if its a good or bad move to go there.
While I doubt Mayweather Promotions really takes off the way Golden Boy did for Oscar, crazier things have happened.
If Floyd gets a big name or two on there, gets his actual license to promote, who knows??? He has Andre Dirrell, who's pretty damn good. He has Jessie Vargas, who I don't think will end up being THAT good, but he'll probably have a good following being Mexican-American.
If he could land Yuriorkis Gamboa, which is hard to do because of the s**t going on with Top Rank obviously, that could be a big star potentially.
He won't get Adrien Broner, he's with Golden Boy all the way, that's not happening.
A young good prospect he could also sign is J'Leon Love, who's also from Michigan.
Who knows what will happen??? Floyd should try the promoter thing full time once he retires though, to see what he can do. A lot of people know who he is, and if he gets some big fighters, crazy things can happen.
i honestly think floyd would make a great face to a promotional company. what he needs is hs richard schafer tho. mebbe al haymon? i dunno, but if put together rite, he def has the pull and the contacts to do it, its all about the logistics as some posters pointed out earlier.
Yeah man it's like Manny Pac Promotions all the Filipinos should sign with Manny instead of the more established Top Rank or Golden boy since Hey there's ''benefits'' to signing to a popular fighter
i never said what they should do. but if a fighter like floyd or manny is promising u dates on his card, its easy to see why some fighters agree. its very hard to get on that level of fight card. and its not even something theyd get promised if they were with gbp or top rank either. look at donaire, he can never get on a manny card even tho he wants to. why? because manny wont allow it.

Floyd should just ask Oscar to take a part in ownership in Golden Boy Promotions. I think Oscar gave Hopkins part of the east division, so give Floyd something like that. I don't think Floyd's ego would let him do something like that though. His little Mayweather Promotions will get ran into the ground.
Oscar despises Mayweather, I can't see him doing that but then business is business so who knows.
Wouldnt it be in Floyds best interest to obtain a license and promote his own fights and keep all the revenue instead of giving up a percentage to Oscar?
OK say Floyd gets his license whos he going to match his fighters against? He still needs the big boys to play ball. If Floyd really needed a license dont you think he would obtain one? He has the money.
:rofl::rofl:^^^ those fighters must be pretty stupid to ''sign'' to a NON existing promotion company that doesn't have a license to actually promote
Vargas got 100 grand for his fight on the Mayweather undercard. Pretty good for a fighter with barely 20 fights. Not bad for a fake promotional company. Jerk off.

yea because u are so entrenched in the boxing world that u know what ur talking about rite??? lol, please stop wasting ppls time when its clear ur just spouting stuff just to spout it. are there better companies to sign with? yes. is there a benefit to signing with the most well known athlete in the sport? absolutely.
