I'm not trying to slander or diss Pacquiao. He's is one of my all time favorites. However there is much that is coming out into the light recently and much I've known about one from dating a Filipino girl a 2 years back and hearing of all te scandals on the Philippines "GMA" Channel.
Look below how the HBO Handlers point to remind Pacquiao to go into the corner and pray...
"Hurry Manny Go....You know its good TV...It's all about Image Manny IMAGE!"

Thoughts on this video....
Oh you made it last year. That's whats up then. Good Eye. No need to try to clown.
It's just funny the rationalization people come to on why the production crewman was pointing. Not sure if the responses are sincerely how people feel or sarcasm.
Nevermind, I miss understood you. Your right thought, some comments are indeed pretty funny. Am just feeling for some compassion for those that have their self worth in Manny. If it helps them deal with their lives or inspires them, by Manny's persona then I think its all good. We need less hate in this world. Am not saying that is what your doing, but you know what I mean...
Come down tiger. Stop beating your chest off a thread topic I created last year. No need to get arrogant...

Some of the responses in this thread are comical.

i never participate in discussions about boxers' personal lives or celebrities' for that matter. you won't see me in topics about pbf's wife-beating case, his terrorizing of security guards, or any of that nonsense.
if you're really honest about it, you're not really a fan of a rockstar, for example, who are known to have messy lives, if you only go for that crap. i've got friends who have tons of collections of rock albums.
pacquiao is well-liked because of his electrifying style in the ring. period.
who are we kidding?

yes, and same goes for lot's of athletes that depends on their name as a brand.
Floyd does the same, but he seems somewhat confused. Trying to go for the clean good guy at one time while using a cartoonish heel character to promote his fights.
It's working.
I had a change of heart on this. If by Pacquiao promoting his noble image inspires others then it can't be that bad. If Manny brings hope and inspiration to those neglected by the world and society, by promoting this noble image then its cool.
Apparently this also inspires arrogance like the pac fan's on this site, but if it means to have to deal with a few bad apples to inspire hope to the great majority then War Manny. I support Manny for the sake of the people who look up at Manny as an inspiration to improve their lives.
:haha:...GTFOH man!!!....Hatton was in a mini coma so he wasn't about to talk to nobody but God....and it was a 2nd round KO...time delay?!?...pressed for time?!?...yea ok!!
Manny may be a good dude...just like Floyd may be a good dude as well as B.Hop, Roy, Wlad, Cotto, Froch, Ward, Sergio,...you get my drift!!!....but we've NEVER seen some camera clown drop them down to their knees with a finger signal...c'mon man...that ish was fake...just admit it!!
Lmao he went down quicker with that signal than a p0Rn star.
it is ok, he is normal person, he is the best boxer the universe has ever seen, and he brings happiness to the poor people, so he can be excused about this.
he is just so great and so religious that even the bible doesnt count for him, dont you guys inderstand? he prays in public so people will follow how he does. he is making praying popular again.
it is impossible for him to be a hypocrite. hes too good of a boxer to be a hypocrite.
yes that is right.
his victory was so big and so impressive that he was just too happy, that he even forgot to pray.
all the cameraman did was just remind him to pray and give thanks to god for blessing him with his powers and the victory. it is normal that you can forget after such an amazing win.
it is just obvious you guys have not met a filipino.
i am very proud to be a pacquiao fan.
Great, another Pac worshiper.
My neighbors are filipino and are nothing like the Pac-fanatics here
I think most athletes, especially boxers, are humble.
With that, image is everything. When you're a star your image to the casual sports fans and sponsors is key. So the family man, God praying, humble human being can be a little bit much at times, but its the way to go for Manny. Just ask Kobe and Tiger. As long as Manny keeps his dirt out if the public eye he'll be ok. There should be no reason for a Tiger type story to come out with Manny even though he has had his faults from time to time.
IMO, this good guy image is executed as well as the "money" persona. We need both in the sport. And it might be scripted to a point, but I still believe Manny truly is a humble, God loving, family man with faults.

Bwahahahahaha!! This is an alt but the sh|t is still funny...
I don't think he tops that James Toney was "JACKED" at 248 lbs. thread and then someone posts pictures and he has meat rolls hanging over his guard... LMAO!!
Comedy man, I tell you!!

Bwahahahahaha!!!!! Pure comedy man... I don't care if he's good or bad. That ***** is funny as a mofo!!
Is Pacquiao as good as a guy as the media makes him out to be? I doubt it. Money can and does turn a person cold.
Is Floyd as bad as the Media and he himself makes him out to be? Nope. He does things on the sidelines that shows he has a heart. Is he a good guy? Nope. Money can and does turn a person cold.
Pac has been doing it ever since. Watch Pacquaio old fights even before he became well known and fighting under HBO . The camera man was instructed by HBO before hand to film Pac as he was expected to pray in the corner after every fight but there was a time delay and the interview for both fighters was about to start. So it was understandable the camera man reminded Pacquao. What is the big deal about it?

IMO, he's not perfect but I think he's a good guy. There's a lot of reasons apart from boxing why the poor in the Philippines love him so much.
Here's a great article from Grantland discussing how the poor see Pacquiao: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7656831/on-manny-many-prizes-manny-pacquiao-variety-show-politics-philippines
not that they're the same but...there's a reason why the poor in Columbia love Pablo Escobar so much too.
just think about it
hes a human being with power and money
all of us are carnal by nature
hes probably a good hearted person who doesnt mean harm
but in reality the guy is just a man... the media does all that crap trying to make him into an angel, but time reveals everything!
Good points made
yeah, 85% of filipinos are strict catholics so pacquiao praying doesnt really seem very out of place to me.
I mean he came from nothing and became what he is today- you dont think he believes in God? Who would'nt after what he's been through.
Yep good points made
