Bro, your boy Chavez has been ducking Martinez like Arum ducks the truth. It'll be a sad day for Chavez' fans when he steps in the ring with Maravilla, Lee is going to be a rude awakening for you guys too when Julio has to rely heavily on a gift from the judges to win. If he can't trap Lee along the ropes, he is going to get outboxed.....that the cold, hard truth. :boxing:
I'm surprised so many people are picking Chavez by KO. I understand he's huge and a bit heavy handed, but he has only had 2 knockouts in the past 10 fights. He couldn't even knockout Zbik despite outweighing by 15 pounds. And while he did have Manfredo hurt, he only got the KO via shoeshine tbh.
As far as Andy Lee's chin, maybe it's a bit suspect, but you got to remember that the Brian Vera stoppage was premature. He was hurt, but still on his feet and the ref stopped it after Andy Lee landed a good shot.
I would give ya'll more K if I could lol. I'm hoping Lee gives him the business, and takes that title IN TEXAS.
Interesing that 60% of the site thinks Lee will win; interesting because after Chavez outclasses him you're all going to be on here lying your asses off about how you never gave Lee a chance etc, like the gutless hypocrites you are.

Lee looked very good in the Vera rematch, very fundamentally sound. I can see Chavez getting outboxed early but trying to press in the mid-rounds but Lee keeps the movement up and outpoints Chavez Jr................................IF................................the fight was anywhere but Texas.

Good post.

"Sugar" Cesar Chavez is just too sweet for Andy Lee. He'll use his footwork and beautiful jab, stepping in and out while touching Lee to the body and head, to dance his way to a shutout decision. He'll step in with hard shots occasionally to remind Lee who he's in with.
There's a reason that 45 have tried and 45 have failed. Lee can't be the first, but he will be the next.
UGh, i like both fighters and I'm trying to figure out a way for Lee to win......I guess he will have to do a bit of holding in the fight in order to win for sure. He's gotta stop JR from doing work on the inside, because he cannot fight inside, gets too square and is very upright. JR is going to get hit coming in but he will make all the way inside a lot in the fight, Lee's foot speed is not good enough to move out of the way. If he can slow him down inside by holding, maybe he can slow the pace down and keep it measured. Force the ref to put JR back on the outside where most of us think he will be effective. I don't usually advocate holding, but JR is a load to deal with if you cant fight inside. oh yeah , avoid the ropes at all costs.
JR's relentlessness will be too much I think, Lee likes to fight at a certain pace and gets disorganized when he's pushed to a faster level above that.
That was a pretty green Lee. Lee was only 15-0 at the time.
Lee looked much better in the rematch.
Lee still looked suspect against Craig McEwan a few fights ago, until he stopped him. Quillin made McEwan look like the journeymen he is.
I don't trust Andy Lee really.
Lee is obviously better skilled, but I think Chavez might be a little to rough and tough for him.
If Vera could wear Lee down, a big ass oversized MW who fights in a pressure style should be able to finish Lee or at least win a decisive U.D.

I got Chavez by Late stoppage. Andy Lee is a good fighter, a legit MW contender, but he's stil looked suspect on a few occasions. The first Vera fight and the McEwan fight until he stopped McEwan of course.
Lee is taller, more crafty and is quicker than Julio. But, I can see Chavez just cutting the distance and breaking Lee down late. It'll be a close fight in points going into rounds 9-10, but Chavez will break Lee down and stop him. We'll probably get some people on here calling the stoppage too quick afterwards as well, because that always seems to happen.
On a side note, if Lee can stick and move Julio all night, he can win a decision. It has to be Unanimous. If there's a round where Lee out lands Chavez but then Chavez has a couple moments in the round, Lee is going to lose that round most likely.
Chavez by late TKO stoppage.
i think lee has to win by KO no matter what. if chavez fights anything like he did against rubio, lee probably takes him to school but gets robbed. chavez is nowhere near as awkward as vera. chavez' punches are easier to predict and see coming.
as big as chavez is, i don't think he has much in the power department. i see a lee KO more than a chavez KO
Lee wins by UD is the bottom line.
Chavez will be very confused in there.
You're acting like I said Chavez was going to win or something bro. I did say I gave Lee the slight edge.
Can you name the last lefty Chavez fought?
I'll give you clue. It was about 11 fights ago and he sucked.
His lack of amateur experience combined with his lack of pro experience vs Southpaws is really gonna hurt.
It takes more than one camp to acclimate. Ask Vernon Paris.
So are you agreeing or disagreeing??
Chavez is going to take punches trying to get inside no doubt...Lee's throws very short hooks, uppercuts and is pretty accurate with most of his shots when guys come in. But once you break through Lee and get all the way inside, there isn't much he does well inside...JR will go to work and push a pace that Lee won't be comfortable with
What's good about this fight is that Lee is tall, young enough and has good power and most can agree JR is going to get with some very flush shots in this fight. I think he could possible hurt Chavez in this fight and I'd love to see how JR handles and reacts to it.
I think his pressure will be too much in the end
This fight won't be easy for either man. Now while I'm slowly becoming a Chavez fan, I think Lee in his own right has the slight edge with his power & pure boxing ability. Plus he is more serious concerning his shape.
