Im so looking forward to that film!
Specially cuz it will be filmed in Puerto Rico, i wish i could somehow land a spot even if its as a crowd member in a fight or something ;)
Awesome cast BTW
DeNiro will play Ray Arcel and Suki's brother from HBO's True Blood will play Ken Buchanan

Again, this movie is about Duran's life, not his rivalry with SRL. Leonard's role will be minimal at most so it really doesn't matter who is playing it.
Exactly! They could have gotten Don Cheadle if it was more about Leonard but im thinking all they need is someone capable of doing a decent SRL during fight scenes. Usher seems very capable of impersonating Leonard's boxing style. I dont think hell have to do much outside fightscenes and maybe a bit of the press conferences.

I was so up for this.
A movie about Roberto Duran's life/career. With Gael Garcia Bernal playing Duran and Al Pacino as Ray Arcel? Oh, yes.
A boxing movie done well (Rocky 1, Raging Bull, The Fighter, Million Dollar Baby) can be great. Boxing is pure drama in itself - the stakes, the dichotomy of triumph and defeat that inescapably hangs over every fight, the obstacles fighters face (not just in the ring, but everything that has to happen before you reach it).
Anyway, I was looking forward to this movie. And now I find out.....Usher is cast as Sugar Ray Leonard. WTF?
I know people get bent out of shape about casting prematurely but f*ck.....having that numpty playing SRL is a joke. Killed it for me. Dead.
This is frigging Sugar Ray Leonard. One of the best ever. A (charismatic) killer who went toe-to-toe with Duran, Hearns and Hagler.
Usher?!
F*ck that.
Agreed. Totally.
I was buzzing to see this, but it's a joke that they casted Usher to play Ray Leonard. I suppose he might always surprise us and play the part well, but it'll be hard to get over the fact that it's Usher playing him :nonono:
