Linares needed 10-12 stitches on outside, 10-12 on inside, according to GB's Robert Diaz. Said you could see bone. They claim head butt.
LOL i know this is weird but the thread made me hungry like I thought of BBQ ribs. Maybe because I havent eaten since lunch and its like 9 but yea lol. And im going to eat now.
The kid needs some time for his cuts to heal completely (this cut was also a result of the cuts he received during his last fight with DeMarco) and also to think what he's going to do.
I still think that he has great potential, but he needs a trainer that suits him better for his style, and Roach is not that guy. He has a bad chin and Roach is not a trainer that can improve his defense.
It's kind a sad to see this, I mean I've seen some previous fights of Sergio Thompson and the kid has power and was beating some opponents, but Linares is way more skilled and this loss is just a major upset. I still think the kid can bounce back, but he really needs some time off to completely rethink his future plans.
Is this the same cut that Demarco opened? If so, is THAT the same cut from sparring for Demarco?

Linares really should become a stictly boxer/mover with his chin he can't stand and exchange which he has the habit of doing "taking a picture" after he punches gotta use those legs early and often if he can adapt to a more defensive style his length and athleticism should keep him relevant.

Man, tough break for Linares. Is it the same eye that Demarco busted open? Dang I had high hopes for Linares too. Hope he can bounce back after some time off.
Cut or no cut, Linares looked like he was rocked and maybe his conditioning would have saved him, but with his last loss fresh in his mind he would have had another 9 long rounds to go, so now with 2 losses back to back, the hill he has to climb is massive. Add to that the other fighters will now want to check his chin and his eye for an easier win,.... he's not got it easy lol
He's an exciting fighter, so i hope he can get over the hurdles and get back out there again
It is clear it was that last huge right hand, on the actual tv broadcast you could see the blood dipping right away. And all that people calling a premature stoppage... without actually seeing the kind of cut it was :pat:
Ps.- And it isn´t rare to get cut by DeMarco and Thompson, they punch really hard.
If it's that extensive of a cut he'll be on the shelf for awhile but doesn't bold well for the future he's going to have real problems with cuts opening up when the wind blows

I've gone back and rewatched Linares fight yet again. There is ZERO evidence of a butt causing a cut. It was a right hand from Thompson.
