Not yet, but the top spots are definitely his to take in the coming years.
I still have Mayweather, Pacquiao and Marquez ahead, but then it's Ward together with Donaire and the Klitschkos. Martinez at 8, #9 and #10 are up for grabs...
Right at this moment in time I would say no, but he is definatly working his way up their. You have other great hall of famer fighters like Marquez and Wladamir around right now who have much more experience.
A couple of years down the line and im pretty sure Ward will be up there.
Yeah and have you watched the Ward-Kessler fight?
But the Kessler fight doesn't erase what he did in the Green fight. He can fight on the inside consistently round after round when he wants to or he can clinch and fight on the outside most of the time. He doesn't approach every fight the same way, different opponent = different strategy. For you to say that he can't fight on the inside consistently was just moronic.
Never! Bute KO's him, Who has ward fought?
LMAO Ward's resume >>>>>>>>>>> Bute's resume.
It's amazing man. I can do nothing but smh.
It says: "Is Andre Ward the world's 2nd best fighter?" when you look at the thread title........I simply answered the question posed.....:nonono:
This post has virtually nothing to do with the actual topic of this thread. This is about pure boxing ability. You guys are so dumb. The iq of the average NSB poster must be less than 50. Boxing fans must be the dumbest in sports, NSB is evidence of that.
I don't think he has the skills to be second best either for that matter. He is maybe top 12 or 10 in the sport but not #2....just an opinion......:bottle:
Absolutely not. He beat a few guys in the super 6 tourney but that's it. Bute challenged him at the end of the tourney and he said no thanks....but has since mentioned that he wanted to fight Kessler again...a guy he already beat.
Way, way to0 many fights at home with too many close to home judges. He has undeniable skills but to say what he has accomplished in his career is more impressive compared to say what JMM and Pac have accomplished in their respective careers is so asinine imo.
Kessler is not what he once was, Froch looked like a drunk sailor in there (wouldn't be surprised if he was drugged), AA had no business fighting at 168 in the first place (I mean the guy is like 5 ft 8 in or something), Allan Green looked like he was fresh from the POW camp and he hardly threw more than 5 punches the entire fight, and Ward hugged on for dear life in the Miranda win (a guy that Bute KO'd in 3 rds by the way)
He has some good NAMEs on his resume but that's it.....the actual quality of the competition turned out to be B+ level at best. Kessler was the favorite going into it and Calzaghe made a prime Kessler look lost a few years earlier before Ward was even big on the scene.

I think so. Ward is right behind Floyd imo. Dre is a hall of famer in the making imo. This is based on ability not resume.

I agree..
What people fail to see because they are new to the sport is that P4P rankings typically goes to the BIGGER men. The only reason why the WW division is the division to be at is because the HEAVY WEIGHT divison is DEAD!
With that being said FLoyd Mayweather is P4P the best fighter in the world hands down. I dont care which fighter you are a fan of, skill wise floyd still got it & until someone beats him he is P4P the best because he's fought the best and beat the best.
Andre Ward is def number 2 behind him because he is a BIGGER man who is technically one of boxing best. The guy KNOWS how to win in any situation. Where as fighters like Pac, Martinez, Marquez only have one style. You've never seen a fight where you actually seen them thinking & adapting to their opponent. Thats what seperates the great from the good...Mayweather and Ward are the only fighters who adapt and technically destroy their opponents...
No one has ever pushed andre though., He's always been allowed to fight his fight. Can't wait to see him fight out of his comfort zone somone who is'nt a pressure fighter or a guy who is tough without skill. Dirrell beats him Imho. Which fight made you feel andre was an ATG in the making?
