Hey im new on boxingscene but a long time student of the game. Freddy roach is a good trainer but not one of the elites like a lot of people think. He is good at developing certain things in fighters however certain elements like defence and inside fighting are lacking and have been shown in his boxers especially in the past year and a half. I think a fighter like khan whos a great athlete with good potential would be served better with someone like Steward. Freddy should have learnt from the shane vs pac fight and really worked on pacs weakness, but they didnt adjust.

i was looking for johnny tapia's name...
rigobdeaux left because he wanted more one on one time with Roach, and with the amount of fighters he trains he just couldn't get it. that is the one big problem with roach is that he trains too many guys.
people don't understand how many guys roach trains, its not just the bigger names its bums and no hopers as well. I've seen him in Tacoma, WA on a card not even on TV and roach was in the corner of a guy with a record of like 10-7 and another that same card who was like 6-9. roach will train anyone even if they stink and will never be anything, which imo is a bit admirable as he's trying to help people make a living. on the other hand he is stretched thin.
Wow that is pretty cool but at the same time like you say probably taking on too much.I think Freddie is a very good trainer who has been overhyped in the media

Yeah he is meant to work the mitts up to 70 rounds a day, and to be so active with Parkinsons is makes it all the more amazing.
But he probably does spread himself to thin.
Freddie Roach is the most overrated trainer in the history of boxing. All he does is feed his fighter's PED's, be an annoying media whore who always contradicts himself and cherry pick overmatched opponents for his fighters. The fact that this man is in the Hall of Fame disgusts me.
Some boxing fans are so gullible and thick as $ hit as well.

And the majority of those fighters left Roach for other trainers. Rigondeux prolly was like WTF am I doing with this guy and left his ass and never looked back.
Yea let's take the words from some dude on a boxing forum to tell a pro trainer that he's doing his job wrong lol!! Anyone who thinks they can do a Better job go prove me wrong.
Obviously something is wrong when only 1 fighter in your stable is winning and the others who don't have the same body structure or attributes are losing to 'lesser' fighters.
Freddie is a good trainer, not great like people make him out to be. Yes, I think he's overrated. The only thing I've seen him improve his fighters on is offense.
He was with Roach at the beginning and left him immediately after like 1 fight. So I don't really consider Rigo a world champ under/cause of Roach.
Btw I rather be like Roger Mayweather and have someone like Floyd in my stable of champions than have a stacked stable and not be able to devote my full attention to each one of them. Cause seriously, Linares sure as hell did not look like he got any time from Roach.

Roach never really has a plan b..... His fighters dont adapt too well, i like pac but he faced guys made for his style till mosley showed his flaw. Khan is talented with good height but struggles with good inside fighters. Roaches instructions inbetween rounds isnt that great as well.
Roach is a joke Coach. He teaches no defense at all, he teaches to footwork for defense. Just loook at all his fighters, they use ambush style then run around the ring, ambush, then keep running. No defense, no skills to fall back onto, he's a **** trainer.
He'll even when he trained DLH vs Mayweather he taught DLH to just flurry for 10 secs around to try and steal rounds then do nothing after that.
Joke Coach.
Trained 27/28 world champions.
How many has Roger Mayweather trained?
Khan is a joke its alex ariza shakes that are doing the work and how many punchers have Khan faced since his KO?
You are the joke, if you think you just the drink a shake and you become a better boxer.
Stick to watching Popeye, boxing ain't your game.
