I fail to understand how Donaire is rated so highly by people.
I would have Marquez and Ward above him without question, both are far more talented and have done a whole lot more. In terms of talent, Gamboa is also better.
P4P is subjective, meaning: I have mine, you have yours and he has his. Rarely are they exactly the same because it is not an exact science.
Anyways Sports Illustrated ranking boxers is like the Ring Magazine ranking college football teams.
1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. - 35
2. Manny Pacquiao - 33
3. Sergio Martinez - 37
4. Nonito Donaire - 29(will be 30 this year)
5. Juan Manuel Marquez - 38
6. Andre Ward - 28
7. Wladimir Klitschko - 36
8. Timothy Bradley - 28(will be 29 in a few months)
9. Bernard Hopkins - 47
10. Yuriorkis Gamboa - 30
11. Miguel Cotto - 33
12. Lucian Bute - 31
13. Vitali Klitschko - 40
14. Orlando Salido - 31
15. Abner Mares - 26
You agree?
my opinion,
I'll put Cotto over Gamboa
No, I'd have Pacquiao #1, with Donaire #3 just in front of Martinez. I would have Ward about #4 and Martinez #. The rest would move down 1. In fact, reconsidering, I'd take Hopkins out and put in Dawson at #14 instead. I'd take out Mares and bring in Cesar Soto at #15.
MOntiel was top 8 P4p when Nonito KO him in 2 & dented his Head! Dachinyan was a terror & Top 12 p4p when Nonito Bloodied his nose & Make him kiss the canvas & then the ropes!
So because of these 2 wins, hes higher then marquez in a P4p list, no way that Donaires resume is better then Marquez?
I just dont understand how people can have donaire ahead of marquez, dont get me wrong Donaire is a good fighter but he has alot to prove ,Montiel is the best fighter on his resume other then that who else? Darchynian?

Martinez, Ward, and Bradley are way too high. JMM and Mares are too low. Donaire is too high too until he stops dodging speedsters like Pac. My list is.....
1. (Tie) JMM-Manny Pacquiao(Pac's resume is better but is probably on roids and has dodged speedsters)
2. Abner Mares (beat very good fighters of different styles)
3. Yuriorkis Gamboa(= Floyd with power-hugging)
4. Nonito Donaire (Great Resume but dodging speedsters like Pac)
5. Chris John
6. Brandon Rios
7 Sergio Martinez
8. Lucian Bute
9. Miguel Vasquez
10. Victor Ortiz
11. Miguel Cotto(too beat up or he'd be #3 in his prime. Beat more styles than Pac or Donaire)
12. BHop(Great chin but too much hugging. Too old)
13. Floyd Mayweather(too much hugging)
14. Vladimir Klitschko( Too much hugging)
15. Tim Bradley
Andre Ward is out(too much hugging)
A mere 2 or 3 intentional hugs per round= obvious compensating for a lack of durability and stamina
I agree with most of the responses. I don't really think you can justify putting Donaire above Marquez. I'm a big fan of Donaire too, but Marquez is a truly great fighter.
I don't like the 14 and 15 spots. I'd rather see Dawson, Rigo, Froch, Erdei or maybe someone else in there. I also don't understand the gap between Marquez and Pac when everyone thinks Marquez won.
Disagree with Donaire being there, even though I was defendin him like hell a few months ago
I also dont believe Cotto is even top 15...buuut to each his own.
