Better than the fighter that fought Margarito in the first fight.
- His stamina is better.
- He's not as reckless,no longer trying to outman the other guy.
- He's smarter,Moving and holding. He smothered Margarito in close.
- His footwork is better. He moves away from danger and spins Margarito.
- Better arsenal, solid jab, good right hand, better range control.
- Maturity,He's better under pressure. And he is more calculating because of his family values.
You agree?
No offense to any Cotto fan but those who think he's "rejuvenated" are being fooled. By all means I wish he would prove me wrong but I just don't buy it.
What would you call it then? Margarito himself said he thought he would've won in the next couple rounds because Cotto was beginning to hold because he was tired.
Seriously you believe that
just because he knew how many fingers the doctor was
holding up doesn't mean he was going to win
I bet and i'm not been funny someone in his corner
had to be telling him how many fingers to say
there is no way he could see out of that eye.
Ten years from now this fight will always be talked about.
I've never really drank the cool aid on Cotto. I've found him to a competent technical fighter, yes, but never the stuff that greats are made of.
Too many of Cotto's fights end weak. Nothing, no decisive victory that the fans can sink their teeth into. Mosley, Clottey, Marg (II) are debatable fights for different reasons. And when faced with inferior competition (Mayorga), he's looked to be dialing it in -not making the sort of statement a great champion should be making. Not much point in mentioning the Pac beating.
I think that Cotto is a good solid B level fighter. Certainly even back in the mid to late 90s, he wouldn't have cracked the likes of Oscar, Tito, Quartey, Mosley, Winky, Vargas, Carr...
Cotto would've beaten Vargas

Margo is punch drunk.he had 1 eye and didnt win 1 second of that fight,he looked like utter sh1t and should never fight again
please show me video of cotto HOLDING margarito once in the rematch
also, these attributes helped him obviously against a 1 dimensional stalker
the question remains whether all of those attributes will help with a 3 dimensional boxing legend

I love Cotto too. I'm glad his corner is solid and teaching him a different look. Its still clear as day though, that Miguel does not have the advantages over Floyd. It will be a miracle for him to win.
Still doesn't remove the fact that I want Cotto to punch a hole in Floyd's a$$!! haha/
a lapse in concentration and one good punch is all it takes. I'm firmly with Larry on this one though. He's probably going to get hurt.

This is the only point i agree with. Cotto get's just as tired as he ever has and his arsenal is the same. He's certainly not better now after copping those beatings against Margo, Clottey(not a beating, but a tough fight and was cut very badly) and MP.
The best Cotto ever looked was against SSM, which i thought he won 7 rds to 5 as Shane started coming late.
based on what??beating a shot 1 eyed Margo, a 1 legged Foreman,a shot to sh1t Mayorga??? hell he still came out of those fights bruised up man is about to get slaughtered
wishful thinking ^^^
100% right. Beating a one legged paper champ who retired after being beat down in his next fight (Yuri Foreman), beating a way past prime Mayorga (who had Cotto stunned in places), and running from a blind Margarito destroyed by Pacquiao----this does not make Cotto a better fighter.
No, I don't agree. You're letting his performance, against a man he should have beat at WW, at JMW cloud your judgement. On top of that, it's clear you're a Cotto fan.
Mayweather via late TKO.

Am sorry man, but this sounds like when the Pac fans were saying how Mosley was better when Pac fought him.
Mosley was shot when both Pac and Floyd fought him. I wouldn't consider it to be a great victory for either.
