Kell Brook @SpecialKBrook Close
The next victim will be announced soon guys.
Kell Brook @SpecialKBrook
The stage is set July 7th were on..
Joshua Clottey re-tweeted this.
So either he's a fan or its Clottey-Brook next.
He holds the WBC title, even without it - he's not a prospect.
Alvarez is a solid contender in his division.
Alvarez is no prospect, but he is treated like one by his promoters...
Matthew Hatton
Michael Jennings
Rafal Jackiewicz
vs
Alfonso Gomez
Jose Miguel Cotto
Ryan Rhodes
That's without Cintron even in the equation. 40 year old Baldomir is probably a better win then Hatton. I think Alvarez's age has a lot to do with his competition in his past several fights. But he's proved how good he is by stopping Cintron and has a fight with Mosley next.
One resume doesn't look much better than the other, just a little better like I said. I'm not saying Brook and Canelo are in the same league, Canelo is light years ahead skillwise IMO but when it comes to their level of opposition, I don't see a big difference.
Cintron was coming off a ass-kicking dished out by Molina. After the Mosley fight you'll be able to say Canelo's resume is much better.
Trust me, Alvarez is levels above Brook in terms of competition. Brook's best win is Matthew Hatton and who has Hatton really beat?
I'm unable to break down each fighter's record at the moment. But for starters I wouldn't mind Jose Miguel Cotto being Brook's next opponent, which says something.
Well they both fought Matthew Hatton and Lovemore NDou in their last 5 fights. Alvarez's resume is slightly better but not by much. Mostly because of the Cintron win.
He holds the WBC title, even without it - he's not a prospect.
Alvarez is a solid contender in his division.
But he's pretty much fighting the same level of opposition as Brook, with the exception of Cintron who was a step up.
Do you know why he has no ' seriously ' credible opponents?
Because he's still considered a prospect and is being given fights that will help him reach world level where he will compete with the best in the world.
Do you consider Canelo a prospect?
You Yanks are crazy.
' Lets just throw some prospect who's beat Matthew Hatton in with bonafide top welterweight competition '.
Never going to happen.
i think its fair to say brook is more than a prospect at this point, hes a contender. but i know what youre saying though..
clottey is a big enough step up for kell, no need to go too far. alot of ppl dont understand the business but you dont take a fighter whos got brooks mix of potential and lack of big fight experience and throw him in there with the top dogs. you work your way up, especially when you can make good money fighting lower level oposition.
brook will get to the fights yall talking about soon enough, but right now clottey is a great chance to gain experience and grow. he only lost to top fighters, he sure gave cotto all he could handle and he beat judah. thats a big task for a guy whos best win his matt hatton.
theres no need to b1tch about brooks oponent. at this point he will fight better fighters each time out, maidana might be next after this and then perhaps a title after that. havce some patience, kid is just 25.
Now I know you're trolling when you call me the narrow minded one.
You call a 25 year old fighter who has been professional for 8years prospect?
You just acknowledged that he isn't a top level fighter after 8years?
Name one opponent on his record that you can say in that space of time is seriously credible.
I don't even really like Amir Khan but his assessment on Kell Brook was true.
I hope you're trolling and don't believe what you type.
Everything I said their is the truth, It's not my fault you are being so openly biased and narrow minded about your one sided opinion!
American's have a soft spot for watching Englishmen get beat up.
In all seriousness though people are very quick to want to see boxing prospects get moved up, when in reality it is best to let them come along slowly at their own pace. Top boxing prospects have the highest washout rate among any sport, top prospects fail in all sports but nowhere near the rate as boxing.
With some of the uneducated replies from the biased British people on here I don't blame any American's to having a enjoyment out of watching British fighters fail miserably, If you take your career lightly most cases you wont make it...
I certainly don't think in the first two years you should be fighting the number one of the division but Kell Brook has accomplished by far less than Devon Alexander in 28 fights...
I'm not lying neither but I think I would actually like to see Kell Brook get his dream come true and Amir Khan come up to 147 for him to be schooled It's a shame though It's so easy to hate on someone when the fans supporting him are so biased and ignorant.
I'd like to see Kell fight Zaveck in July 7th. Clotteyw ould be okay I guess, at least he'd be in witha somewhat known guy who's been in with the top fighters.
After July 7th, he has a lot of options. Senchenko-Malignaggi winner, Guerrero-Aydin winner, Berto-Ortiz II winner, Alexander, Khan, etc.
You Yanks are crazy.

You're being stupid and you know you are, the problem with Kell Brook is he's took his whole damn career LIGHTLY!!
Look where Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley are in their career both debuted the same year as Mr Kell Brook and now are at the top of their careers and aren't considered as PROSPECT!!
Man you must be seriously delusional, I'm not even a Yank I just prefer keeping it REAL something most British people can't seem to do.
Kell Brooks could just be another Calzaghe in the making maybe he will decide to fight some real named opponents when he's near retirement pffft what a joke.
You Yanks are crazy.

Fck the fight I want is Brook vs Berto/Ortiz winner. Bombs away
Yeah that would be great but again, the problem is neither would fight Brook yet because of his lack of US exposure. I think thats why they're trying to get someone like Maidana.
Kotelnik and Matt's were not big names either,he fought them..I'm not big on Alexander, but I have to admit he fights everyone...I also really want to see this fight,I like the style match up..Not sure who I think will win tho...
Kotelnik was supposed to be an easy fight in his hometown. They were trying to make a statement by doing a better job on him than Khan...lol fail.
Same with Mathysse, he'd been on HBO against Judah.
Both were pretty handpicked even though they ended up beating Devon.
Kell has had no US exposure. Alexander isn't going to fight him on July 7th so its kinda moot talking about it
Why would he? Brook is not a big name in the US yet. Beating someone like Maidana would get his name out there.
