He had no boxing background nor amateur fights , started boxing REALLY late, and some guys are able to learn faster than others. on the other end, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr is a good example, but he had the upbringing so he had an advantage.
Even If you don't like the fighters, you have to respect their hustle, to just pick up something and be great at it.
Hell I don't dislike any fighter, they have a lot of guts to get in the ring.:boxing:
Is this how it usually works to make yourself a name in boxing? Fight no names until you make it?

Do you know how many great fighters never get chances because of style or other reasons,Winky couldnt get a fight with a contender to save his life until Mosley stepped up and gave him a shot.Look at Shumenov right now no press and the kid is an all action fighter.
shumenov sucks, though, to be fair.
winky wasnt getting fights because he was very good and brought next to nothing to the table. not to mention his style was such that even in victory you arent likely to look good. he also took a setback (to an argentine, incidentally,) when he lost to julio cesar vasquez. he was out on his feet. it's a testament to his toughness that he finished the fight, and a testament to his greatness that he finished it relatively strong.
martinez took a huge step back when he lost to antonio margarito and took a beating. he was favored to win that fight. it was totally apparent that he was nowhere near ready for the top at the time. he went back into obscurity after that and made his emergence onto the big american stage when he annihilated alex bunema and lampley and i believe kellerman went gaga over him. i have not seen the fight in some time. if you want to see a guy get slowly taken apart and beat up that's a perfect example.
Rofl, Shumenov is 100 percent average
Below average.
Him and Cloud are the same people.. and Campillo beat them both exactly the same way too. I swear, those fights are IDENTICAL, thats how much a like him and cloud are. Clouds better though, of course.

No, thats how it works for a LOT of fighters. People on this tread are tripping.
Winky didn't finally get a real fight until he was damn ear 40 fights in. These good fighters overseas get avoided for years until they finally get a chance to shine.

Dude started boxing @ 20 years old. No amateur experience.
No its a way to prepare yourself to actually become a good fighter. People advance at different rates
Its doubtful Sergio could have become a pro at 15 like Morales or Pac considering he only started boxing at like 20
Good point. Never thought of it like that.
