I feel Martinez wins were good, but not enough to make him #3. i think if he wouldve beat pavlik pre bhop,it wouldve been a better win. paul williams was an ok win.and the rest of the guys he beat were OK. regardless if it isnt his fault that he cant get the big names on his resume, i think his resume isnt really top 3 p4p.
Same case with donaire. I would actually have donaire higher than martinez. beating darchiniyan at a time where he seemed unbeatable and stretching montiel out in 2 rounds was crazy, however i think ward has done alot more
marquez couldve wouldve shouldve beat pacquiao, but on the record, i think his last good win was the first diaz fight.
ward has faced the top dogs in his division and has barely lost a round in all of those fights, which i feel, and no disrespect to marquez, donaire and martinez,i think they are all the best in the game right now,is a better ranking then all 3 of them
No. The guy whupped everyone at SMW, which is a far deeper divsion that ones that Sergio and Nonito (118 was deep but he only fought 1 good guy there, and he hasn't fought anyone at 122 yet either) fight in. Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham, Froch, and without any sign of struggle.
I have Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Ward as the Top 3.
Some poster said Ward is #8??? I'd LOVE for someone to name 7 better fighters than Andre Ward right now.
mayweather,pacquiao,marquez,martinez,donaire,v.klitschko,w.klitschko
Ward should beat Sergio and then he deserves no2 ahead of Floyd and behind Pac. Part time fighters like Floyds place should never be set in stone, Floyd needs to get off of his backside.
Ward only beat the best super middles and whos saying that is such a strong division with great fighters? Carl Froch was a good win, and Ward showed some nice skills but needs to do a bit more.
Kessler, Froch, Bika, Abraham>Montiel, Narvaez, WV2, Sydorenko
I think Donaire's resume is somewhat better, only thing is his large phys advantage over his opps. But we don't penalize fighters for this, right, as long as they make weight.
Donaire has 2 top 10 p4p scalps, Ward none (Froch was close). p4p Montiel > Kessler, Froch > WV2 (though I wouldn't be surprised if WV had a better career in the end). Narvaez > Abraham, both short, both lots of title defenses below, but only 1 has boxing skills. Bika has never won a world title, and probably never will. Donaire's second rate comp like Mthalane and Tyson Marquez are world champs.

1 Marquez
2 Pacquiao
3 Martinez
4 Mayweather (won't fight PAC or Martinez)
5 Donaire
6 WK
7 Ward (won't fight Bute)
8 VK
9 Rios
10 Gamboa
you get lucian bute's team was frothing at the mouth to take on ward right after the tournament not because of lucian's superiority, but because of the advantages he'd have fighting a guy who has had such a hard 2-3 year run?
you can dig that i hope.
ward is NOT ducking bute
people get accused of "ducking" all the time in situations that do not involve a "duck." ducking somebody is refusing to fight them for no real reason when that fight makes the most sense
if ward's promotors got him the bute fight right after the tournament they'd be making a horrid mistake
should bute get a shot at the winner of the tournament even though he was left out and fighting guys on a lower tier?
hell, that sounds a hell of a lot better than facing top 10 guys one after the other and earning a shot at the winner. sign me up.
mayweather
marquez (by virtue of his W over pacquiao. i dont care what anybody says. that fight was a robbery and marquez clearly won. clear as day.)
and then ward
that's my top 3. manny is not what he once was. he doesnt talk, train, or act like the best fighter on the planet. and he certainly doesn't fight that way
i dont think so. his resume isnt as good as some of the other top fighters, but in terms of pure ability he could be the best fighter in the sport. the question is how much do you base your p4p list on what you see in him and how much do you base it on accomplishments on paper.
either way its not like ward lacks accomplishments or resume. i think he should be no lower than 6 at worst so to have him at 3 isnt a stretch imo. its just a matter of time before hes #1 anyways, sillakh and dawson could give him a run for his money but i think ward will be dominant force in boxing in the next couple of years.
:lol1::lol1:
see i dont think resume/achievements should go into a p4p list as heavily as they to an ATG list. i consider my p4p list based on who i think has the most skill much more so than the accomplishments on their resume. i understand it can be hard to truly see someone's skill level if they have fought trash their whole career but i certainly think cotto has fought good enough opposition to be excluded from that category
Its not wrong to have have Andre #1 as far as im concerned .. There's no one around his weight class that can beat him.. He surely beats Martinez easily.. He's not exciting to watch for me, but he is special..
but #1 would mean there would be nobody around any weight class that could beat him everyone was the same weight. i still dont think he'd beat floyd p4p. i definitely have ward high on my list though
He should be #4
Martinez and Donaire are the ones that are too freaking high IMO
1.Pacquiao
2.Floyd
3.JMM
4.Ward
5.Wladimir
6.Martinez
7.Froch
8.Donaire
9.Cotto
10.Bradley
i like your list but froch at #7 is blowing my mind right now? froch ahead of donaire and cotto is an absolute travesty
