Prime Juan Diaz vs Brandon Rios

I think Diaz is better but Rios hits harder so could win.

People forget how good Juan really was in his prime. This. Diaz was an undisputed lightweight champion, short prime, I agree, but there is not way Rios beat him. His punches in the inside were amazing, and I dont see Ríos boxing him, would be a war but Diaz have the edge.

It's two guys with similar styles except one of them takes a better shot and hits harder....Diaz would get worn down and stopped late. Great fight though would love to see it.

Juan Diaz whoops his ass. At one point Juan Diaz was elite and undisputed beating really good competition to get there. Rios has nowhere near that resume, and Diaz would outbox and out hustle him. Rios is just ready to get exposed. Diaz was a very cerebral fighter believe it or not with awesome conditioning despite his body type Diaz beat up on a lot of old fighters during his prime. He made Popo quit. Julio Diaz at the Begin of his decline. Lavka Sim at the end. Jose Cotto was green. The old strong guy he fought was Katsidis who's a really crappy Rios. Rios would be by far the biggest strongest fighter he's ever faced. Also in his prime. Rios has too much firepower. Juan keeps it close for about 7 or 8 rounds. Then boom goes the dynamite.

Juan would land 2-3 punches to every 1 one Brandon's on the inside..... The problem is 20-30 of Diaz is equal to that one of Rios it wouldn't matter. Seriously if JMM put Diaz on his ass Rios would put him in the morgue, Rios is a MONSTER at 135 man. Diaz didn't have the chin to win a war against Rios.

The babybull was a hell of a fighter but he had two major problems... 1) Ronnie Shields was his trainer and allowed him to do all his roadwork on machines and what not 2) He was a fatty... he should have been at 126. Rios at his lightest belongs at 135. Rios brutalizes Diaz. Too big and too much power.

Since Diaz is from H-town I would be rooting for him but I think Rios would take it. Rios would just be too strong for Diaz imo and Diaz's lack of power wouldn't help either. Would have been a hell of a fight had it happened though.

I think the baby bull outworks Rios in this one.

great fight... as we have seen, juan diaz struggles with "boxers" like JMM and malignaggi... he was taken deep by veteran campbell though and was unable to show poise necessary to overcome the cut inflicted on him... rios hardly resemble those mentioned fighters... he is not a "boxer" like JMM and paulie, and he doesnt have the veteran instincts of campbell... maybe i have to go with juan diaz on this one as i have yet to see him struggle with "come forward, lets settle this" fighter like rios is... (might i will change my pick in the future as rios develops though...)

Diaz gets beat if he can't overwhelm his opponent. He beat a lot of older fighters to gain his #1 position. He just happened to pick on the wrong two in Marquez and Nate. So Rios by KO.

I think Rios is a little better. Rios to me is still unproven. I love the way he fights, but I get the feeling a good boxer will beat him here pretty soon unless they stay away from fighters like that.
