Maybe not competitive with the elite there but I still believe he would have gotten plenty of knocks out at the higher weights, including 47. It's hard to describe Hamed's build. Broner for example gets described as big which he is, but I don't think he can be that effective even at 140, he's kind of bulky, big on top. Hamed had a very good build for a fighter.
His punches were downright scary. It was hard to believe a guy that small could generate so much power. The last punch he hit Auggie with sounded like someone fired a gun. I've been to dozens of live cards and the only time I heard a louder punch than that was when Andruw Murray knocked out Micheal Covengton with one punch on the under card of Pazienza-Rosenblatt 2.
Im not saying he never said it, I just don't recall hearing him say that or reading a quote from him to that effect. Do you have anything from Steward himself?

No. I was at the Sanchez fight and Hamed walked past me on the way to the ring and he is incredibly small. His height is listed at 5'4" but he seemed shorter than that to me. I don't think he would have been competitive with the top welterweights.

Hamed had the kind of build that would have allowed him to fight at 147, I'm sure he would have still been knocking plenty of fighters out at the higher weight classes too. Too bad he retired too soon.

How they are in the ring.
being awkward gotta go with the prince... the guy was more elusive, slipping punches and have been a combination punching machine (specially when he was still with ingle...)
sometimes you have this impression that he relies mostly on instincts as a fighter... not to say he aint a thinking fighter but still...
naseem's name isnt really a thing you associate with "fundamentals skills..." like whitaker and pacquiao, these guys are awkward as hell... any trainer can teach fundamentals and all but fighting like them just cant be taught IMO...
word, it's like he has two dominant hands, probabley abidextrous
Some guy told me he broke his left wrist whilst playing football & learned to fight as a southpaw.
But yh his jab is a rocket & the way he brings it up from knee-height is a thing of beauty.
I think it was at the end of round 8 vs Macklin when he stepped it up, damn he absolutely tortured him with the jab.
Hamed I think, Sergio gets hit much more then Naz did.
Naz packed ridiculous power in both hands, he could knock a man out from any angle with any punch.
Emmanuel Steward claimed Naz hit harder then Lennox Lewis.
I don't think Steward said Naz hit harder than Lennox, but I seem to recall him saying he was the hardest p4p puncher he'd ever worked with.
Most awkward I would say Naz though I don't think the highlight reel of Sergio shows just how awkward he can be with that jackhammer jab & his movement.
Most effective - Sergio.
