mayweather might actually win at 154. duran was pretty inconsistent and lazy at 154, and also lost some of his footspeed. He was more controlled in his aggression, which might play into floyd's hands, as opposed to the duran who fought buchanan, dejesus (2nd fight), and leonard (1st fight).
The best Floyd at 135-147 does not beat the best Duran at 135-147.
Mayweather is not a 154 fighter.... His best days had been at 130 and 135.

This fight will not happen!!!
But I see Roberto Duran chasing Floyd Mayweather Jr. down the street with a pen and clipboard asking him to sign the damned contract because Floyd would have done his best to DUCK him! :killyou:
you obviously haven't seen the fight. Look at it and see leonard taking a bad beating in rds 2,3,4 and all of 5 except the last 30 seconds. Mayweather couldn't live for more than a few rounds against this firestorm. In fact this fight reminds me of just how good leonard really was. I already knew all about duran. He should have taken this fight by at least 3 4 rds. It was his fight all the way. Maybe the judges were influenced by leonard's montreal popularity.
hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
LOL nice strawman. We are talking Duran v Mayweather. When did I ever say that Mayweather would beat Hearns?
I'm not saying you ever did. You missed my point.
Mayweather took 2 of shanes best shots and end result, lost 1 round but you are trying to make it the end of the world. He was not even near being stopped because he wasnt even dropped.
Making it the end of the world? lol Shane was handled that night. I never implied anything to the contrary. In fact, I praised Mayweather's reaction to the blow. It just so happened that, in the course of making my point, I stopped to observe that Hearns would've probably KOed Floyd with the same shot. Disagree?
What do you think would've happened to Floyd had that second-round blow been landed by the "prime version" of Tommy Hearns? Perhaps on another night Mayweather wouldn't have been caught by such a flush shot.

Yeah, agreed.
Hearns is just the worst possible match up for Mayweather.
If it was Hearns in there against Mayweather instead of Mosley it would have been a short night.
That punch Shane landed was literally a bolt from the blue. It stands out in my mind pretty clearly. It was so unexpected; the crowd immediately got to their feet, as my friends and I did back home. But it was over in an instant. Just like that, Mosley's upset chances evaporated. I'll forever give Floyd credit for reacting instantaneously and taking back control of the fight. I'm sure a lot of people don't comprehend what it took to do that. In sports, especially the fighting sports, defeat can happen in the blink of an eye.

Leonard was an amazing fighter. He appears underrated on these boards. It's as if people separate the accomplishments from the man. Strange effect.
154 is neither Floyd nor Roberto's best weight. It's a tough call. But at 147? On the night "Manos de Piedra" put it on "Sugar"? Duran all the way....
Yeah, and I'm not even trying to put Floyd down. I was merely trying to make a point that fighters aren't machines; despite how well prepared, they're better on some nights than others.
But speaking of that hypothetical shot, Hearns would've almost certainly put Floyd to sleep with a one-punch KO. If not, Tommy would've only needed to dust-off Mayweather with a couple of follow-ups. Floyd wouldn't have had the wherewithal to tie him up.
Yeah, agreed.

If Tommy Hearns landed that shot on Mayweather I imagine he would have a KO 2 win over Mayweather.
Can't see Mayweather taking that shot were it by Hearns.

At 154 Myweather wins he'll outbox Duran at that weight and SRL Duran 1 Montreal SRL fought a bad fight he said Duran made some disparaging remarks towards his family that made him very mad that through him off his gameplan he elected to brawl instead of box and he lose in the rematch the real SRL showed up
He couldn't help but "brawl". Duran totally dictated the whole fight and gave Leonard a sound beating which wasn't reflected in the judges poor scoring. It raised my respect for Leonard. Mayweather would collapse under such an onslaught by at most the 6th rd. {If Leonard couldn't hurt Duran, He'll walk right through Mayweather's "popsicles"}.
If he lasted that long.

Yet Duran got dominated, TOE TO TOE By SRL for the first few rounds, and Ray started waiting too much, and Duran started swarming him...Ray dont have defense like Floyd, where he can wait in the pocket, and avoid the punches....If Ray can dominate him toe to toe for those first few rounds, What you think Floyd gonna do?...Floyd gonna shut him down, EASILY...EASSSSILY

"Montreal version of Duran" LOL, people doing the "versions" and "motivated" thing again. Nobody ever has to use those for floyd because he always comes ready. Floyd by UD. Just floyd, not super saiyan floyd or "prime motivated floyd" or "pre buster douglas, round 4 of larry holmes style floyd". Just floyd.
i wonder if the castillo I floyd would beat duran? :stupid:
The mosley fight? Floyd won that 11 rounds to 1, not exactly a measurement of inconsistency is it?
What do you think would've happened to Floyd had that second-round blow been landed by the "prime version" of Tommy Hearns? Perhaps on another night Mayweather wouldn't have been caught by such a flush shot.
He got fat inbetween fights.
That's true. I won't argue that Mayweather isn't more dedicated. But just because Floyd comes into every fight prepared, or fully trained, doesn't mean he's at his absolute best. Human beings don't function like that.
Don't forget , "not the Floyd that fought Castillo 1th", or the Floyd that "was doing the judah dance in the 2nd round against Mosley". lol
The mosley fight? Floyd won that 11 rounds to 1, not exactly a measurement of inconsistency is it?
And those quotes you made up, nobody has ever actually used them on a forum, ever. Where as certain fighters, duran being one of them, Tyson being another one, consistently have to have "motivated" and other special "versions" of them when talking head to head fights.
