HBO 24/7 IMO! People was talking about HBO 24/7 on the Monday Following at my school during the time at least! He was a HUGE BUZZ about that fight and Mayweather Trash Talking really made people interested in this fight and they really wanted to see Oscar Knock Him Out because of the trash talking...especially the Women, being that Oscar had a HUGE Women Fan Base!
Where is the proof of this?:cool2:
It was over the news at the time of the fight. England football team has took tens of thousands of fans round the world numerous times.
There were alot of factors that made it huge, but one SMALL factor I don't think anyone ever considers are streaming sites. Back then we didn't have the broadband, easily accessible hardware nor the community to supply these sites.
How much do you guys think it actually takes away from today's big ppv's?
Hmmm I think I remember reading that
Around 30,000 Brits were there and the ticket allocation for British fans was something ridiculous, like less than 4,000
Great promotion, plain and simple. I've covered many big fight press tours, this one still sticks out as the best. It kicked off at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, I was in awe.
Anything with Oscar would always sell big, but they matched him with the best fighter in the world right after Oscar had KO'ed Mayorga in spectacular fashion.
HBO created 24/7 just for this fight.
It did very well in the PPV;
But Floydie Jr didn't Give
Oscar another chance!
Why don't they make
Floydie-Oscar II fight?
and let see how will
it fare in PPV!
Actually something like 30,000 British fans went over. They were only allocated a small amount of tickets at the MGM.The American national anthem got booed...in America...that usually only happens at soccer matches in LA...
Hatton wasn't the Bside? Really?
The MGM has a 16800 seat arena....over 8,400 Brits flew over from England? really?

lol these fools weren't even watching boxing back when May-ODLH was on...but the recession has to be the reason Manny can't sell as much as Oscar or Floyd
Oscar always sold well no matter who he fought. I knew girls that bought all his ppv's. What made it funny is that they never watched any other boxing or had an idea of who he was fighting, they just wanted to see Oscar. Other fighters alway more money fighting Oscar than anybody else.
It did that because everyone wanted to see that fight. And Floyd wasn't a catchweight vag about it either...Oscar was the man at 154 and Floyd went and took it.
Anyone who talks down on that fight is a fool and Roger would agree they don't know **** about boxing.
A year and a half or so ago Pac-May would've done 3 million...now it will be lucky to break 2 million...they dicked around for so long that everyone has realized Pacquiao could never beat Mayweather.
Aside from De La Hoya being such a huge draw. I would say a lot of it had to do with the first installment of 24/7. Mayweathers personality being fresh to everyone. Basically 24/7 being so groundbreaking.
I have to agree here and have to add that Oscar was also looking for a pretty good PPV dance partner and Floyd was at that time the best dance partner for him ....
I watched the build up and the fight live just wondering what made this the highest selling ppv fight of all time???
controversy sells and floyd is full of it versus biggest draw in boxing
