Double you jab on the way in and when on the outside use as many angles so the jab of the other fighter don't start dictating the fight. Also got to be first when punching, simply can't wait around.
imo welterweight.
I think Proksa is 5'8" and he's a middleweight, which is rare for someone that height
Cotto is 5'7'' at light middleweight.
I agree tho, lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight would be optimal divisions for a 5'8 guy. Only if he's naturally that weight class and doesn't need to cut weight of course.
It depends on the speed the 5'8 fighter has...
If the fighter will be faster than his opponents, Ivan Calderon might be the blueprint to build on. If not, Dwight Muhammad Qawi might be one of the best blueprints to build on.
What do you think would be the heaviest weight class for someone 5'8 to be great in, in this day and age?
imo welterweight.

Dick Tiger at 5'8 won the Light Heavyweight Championship of the world beating HOF opposition at the weight by just having the complete package. A great all round fighter.
Then again the only huge LHW he fought was Bob Foster and he was badly knocked out but that's not really something to be ashamed of.
He was the smaller man for pretty much all his LHW fights.
For a fighter to dominate a division he is at a height disadvantage. The fighter needs to Fight on the inside, have speed, ko power, headmovement and good defense.
gotta work on punching power.. and the bob and weave...
You at a distinct disadvantage cuz of height.. that usually means reach too.. they could keep you at the end of their jab all night long.. so you gotta get inside with the bob and weave and make that moment count with punching power.
