This is my opinion. For someone who is in line to face the winner of Salido/Juanma, I dont think he did enough to impress the networks or draw any interest from the casual fanbase. Granted, he is a solid boxer and has all the fundamentals, but he didnt do anything that would make anyone say "wow, I cant wait to see him in the ring again". He was in the ring with a mediocre opponent and it showed. Not to mention Garcia has absolutely no noteworthy names on his 28-0 resume. If you ask me, he isnt ready for the likes of a Broner, Salido, Gamboa, etc.
I wouldn't compare Russell's comp to Garcia's comp.
Russel aint even fighting 10 rounders yet.
Mikey's the real deal.
I'm calling that Garcia is in the elite category. He will back up my prediction.
Yup. I'm sky high on him. Ever since the Remillard fight where he disposed of a solid pro fairly easily I've been really high on him.
I think he can beat Gamboa as well.
I think he showed the patience, the calmness of a vet. I think he is very mature beyond his years. Very calculated fighter. Doesn't waste punches either. Just tries to break you down. I like Garcia as a fighter.
This.............
yup chavez sr was ripping him a new a hole. mickey has fought nothing but bums and hasnt wowed me. that is what you are supposed to do when you fight bum after bum be impresive But he hey thats just me:dunno:
people here are dumb..........their confusing how good micky is by the sh*tty comp he's fought. the reason why the mexican commentators were ripping him a new one was because he's boring & he's nothing special. he's a all around solid fighter but he's not gonna be the next big star @ 126. you have guys like alexander who are his same age fighting maidana & bradley & you mean to tell me that micky can't up his comp? people are tired of this trash at this point. they want this guy to fight someone at this point.....it's gotten ridiculous.
Wow, I usually don't pay no mind to dumb posts, but these?? Chavez sr?? His son got a title beating lesser fighters than Mikey. I don't get how someone can talk about Mikey fighting garbage fighters while jr has only now stepped up his comp.
Mikey is coming up the proper way. Slow & steady. He isn't sporting a manuefactured title & he has dominated everyone he's faced. When he is worthy of the title of champion we'll now. Chavez sr. Look at Canelo & jr comps, who have not beaten an elite fighter to date, wow.
in that case from the skill set that gary jr. russell has, he's shown me that he's elite @ 126 & beats everyone aside from gamboa...........
dude. you have to actually fight these guys to know who does what @ 126. potential means very little when talking about dominating 126.
I wouldn't compare Russell's comp to Garcia's comp.

He's patient, nothing new unless you only started watching him. It's up to his opponent to make him kick into second gear and Concepcion couldn't do that.
He'll win a couple titles in a couple weight clsses, is a solid fighter, but he'll be beaten by someone with speed and superior skill.
He should fight Celestino Caballero or Rafael Marquez next.
Garcia is elite at 126. Peopel can talk about his comp. But he's fought guys good enough to show me he beats everyone outside Gamboa.
Looking forward to his next fight.
He beats Rios when they spar......if that tells you something. Mikey is a very good fighter and he will prove it soon beating Salido comfortably.
Where is this at? From what I read, he said he would get Rios in the early rounds but later on pressure got to him (Garcia).

definately, didnt take concecpion out as quick as lopez did but got the job done if he keeps this up he will definately make some noise, as for lopez-salido ii what a fight kind of saw it happening again but lopez impressed me in his brawling and toe to toe fighting
yup chavez sr was ripping him a new a hole. mickey has fought nothing but bums and hasnt wowed me. that is what you are supposed to do when you fight bum after bum be impresive But he hey thats just me:dunno:
ur hate for mexicans disgust me.

I agree...........
I agree 100% with this.
I disagree with you guys. I think Mikey's a good fighter and a nice kid, but, if he fought Salido last night, he would've lost. I say "last night," because Orlando is 31, has been at it for sixteen years and fights in a very wearing style. His shelf-life is getting close to expiration, IMO. There's no telling what might happen if these two fought three or four fights from now; but if they fight each other next, I think "Siri" takes it. Should they cross paths in their next bout, I'll gladly take friendly bets from all three of you.
He showed he is a skilled and patient fighter. He needs to up his quality of opponents to see what he really is made of. I think he will be a dominant champion in the years to come.
In the Azteca version of the fight, one of the commentators dissed him. He said something like "He's a good fighter but if he keeps fighting like this the only people who are gonna come see him is his mom and brother". Then he called him boring. It sounded a lot like JCC Sr, but I'm not sure.
I mean if you're own Mexican commentators are dissing you.
He did to me,I think he beats either fighter who was in the main event last night...I wanna see him step up in class tho,I think it will tell us more about the kid..
I agree 100% with this. My thoughts exactly about him beating either Juanma or Salido.
And for what it's worth, people keep talking about how mediocre of an opponent Concepcion is and how Mikey took his time with him, but he handled Abe much better than the man who was in the main event last night. :dunno:
Just some food for thought.
