Juanma's technique looks flat out horrible, he is so slow I could see his punches coming from my couch and he gets rocked by every punch that lands on him. He tried to box Salido but his technique was so garbage he could not do it and his punches are always so sloppy and with no cordination. I think is time to retire and move on to other things because his career wont get any easier when he eventually moves up in weight.
People just wanna see Juanma get dropped one more time cuz it's entertaining lol. He's a KTFO waiting to happen because of his weak chin, his leaky defense, and his weak jab. Who honestly believes that this guy will have any more success at/near the top? He loses to the top guys at 126-135. It's a wrap. 4CornersKid said it best, Juanma is the new Vargas.
lol. Vargas.
More like the PR version of Jason Litzau.
I doubt he retires, but I think his remaining losses will all end bad. Especially if he's going to be fighting the Mikey Garcias of the world coming up who can hit, I can't imagine it ending any better for Juan Ma. We've seen the very best of Lopez.
Most in here see Juanma as a boxer so they think we're crazy.
PRcans like us that see him as a person have been saying it after the horrible Oliver fight, he should retire and avoid suffering any long term health damage.
If he's going to take his career seriously, he needs to work on that D. Getting his brain tossed like a salad in these kinds of fights doesn't do him any favors, especially when he moves up and the punchers get that much stronger.
I see that numerous people are saying that he can still beat many of the "good" fighters at or around his division. Can you guys name some? I see him losing to Garcia/Gamboa/Caballero/Broner, so they are out of the picture. Who else is left?
I think it's arrogant if Juanma dismisses these losses as Salido simply having his number (like most of ya'll are doing), it's much more than that. But we'll just have to wait and see.
He's still young to retire but he seriously needs to improve his defense among other things.Juanma needs to learn to control himself. He slugged it out in the 9th like it was the 12th and gets up too quickly when he gets floored.
He won't be getting huge payday for a while if he doesn't(retire) though.
And needs to fix his defense, basically he relies more on his power than his chin I noticed.
Funny how people automatically call for fighters to retire like they are some authoritive source on someone's elses career. He got his asz beat by the same fighter twice. It can happen and did. The hurt business is for a select few and as it has been said already JuanMa (despite all his shortcomings) still beats most other fighters not named Gamboa or Salido. Have you ever had two BAD days at work or maybe received two bad grades in school? Maybe you should retire - quit your job or drop out of school
I don't think he should retire..
I honestly feel that Salido is just a style nightmare for him.. Just the fact that Salido is so tough, gritty, and is able to absorb Lopez's bombs, makes it very difficult for Juanma... And when Salido cranks up that pressure and throws caution to the wind, just staying in Lopez's grill, he seems to have a hard time with it
Lopez's power has always been the equalizer but against a guy like Salido he needs more than that and he wasn't able to find an answer in their two fights
Last night Juanma showed that his chin isn't the problem IMO, he stood up to some big shots, but he needs to tighten up that defense...
I would still love to see him in there with some guys at 126...
Nah, it's too early to say he should retire. However, in thinking about him moving up in weight and being able to hang with and beat the top guys, I'd say he should re-evaluate his career and be sure that he thinks that type of a move is in his best interest.
Man I tell you that Salido is not top 5 on his division and beat the fugg out of Juamma. Sorry, but he looked stiff, with no footwork, sloppy, inacurrate and overall amaterurish (SP??).
Yes, he put Salido down with a short hook, and yes, there were those two rounds but Salido outlanded him 2:1 and how about that interview??? WTF!!
Im Puertorican and I support my fighters but comm'on. It was obvious, even Trinidad was talking about how he was lossing the fight.
He needs a NEW TRAINER, relook his entire offensive and defensive approach and go back to basics.
Depends on how much money he has managed to make and where his heart is.
He isnt a great fighter and there are people out there who would flatten him. He has a boat load of technical issues but im a fan he is exciting. There are plenty of good fighters he can beat and plenty of money to be made its only a question of is he prepared to be a good fighter and not a great fighter as people where proclaiming he would be/was. Obviously health is an issue but i wouldnt be worried yet
maybe take the rest of the year off, get a new trainer and rebuild himself as a fighter
I can't believe his defense is that bad though...he don't move his head at all, Antonio Tarver was screaming that the entire fight, but JuanMa just continued to stand straight up and Salido was landing Right and Left Hooks and Uppercuts
he is only 28 years old, he should be entering his PRIME as a fighter right now, but the lack of Defense makes him a DAMAGED 28 Year Old Fighter
It's his choice. He knows the risks.
I see guys 10x worse than JuanMa fight every day.
No one calls for their retirement even they though they lose a lot.
Of course he doesn't HAVE to retire, but I believe he's gonna be the type of fighter that gets forced to retire. We'll continue to see him fight, but I don't think he'll be a major force in any division now. Unless he wakes the **** up and gets a new trainer.
People were calling this man to be the next PR great, and he has been looking vulnerable in numerous fights. He isn't improving, and he seems to be too stubborn to realize that the reason why he's losing is because he isn't taking charge of his own performance. He needs a dramatic change, cuz whatever he's doing isn't working. His skill-set is limited, and he doesn't have the attributes to fight the way he wants to. KO's take something out of every fighter. If Juanma continues on this path, he will get permanently damaged.
