I've been saying it since the Mtagwa fight. The dude has a VERY solid chin, he just gets caught OVER AND OVER.
The guy is just limited and ran up against a guy that can stand up to his power.
I think the writing is on the wall for Juanma. He has a decent chin if he knew how to box effectively. But not for a brawling style. He has taken too much punishment now. He will never be the same, he doesn't look right, the look in his eye. He has this far away look in his eyes now. He's not sharp, not quick, his reflexes have been affected. Too bad, maybe he can fight Ponce De Leon at 130 or something.
He gets stunned a lot but seems to be able to stay on his feet unless it's a really solid shot or series of shots. Bad defence and flat feet don't exactly help.
Its not
He was getting hit by bombs all night long
Just gets hit too much. If most guys got hit that much they wouldnt make it to the 10th
lol agreed
i was thinking that while watching the fight
lopez was taking bombs. solid chin. horrible defense.
His chin is a problem imo because every time he is hit he gets stunned. He obviously has a huge heart and will to win which allows him to take a lot of punishment.
It seems to me everytime he was punched on the chin (happened offten) he wiggled and looked stunned for half a second, you could see it in his face.
I think his chin is average but I dont think his chin is good enough not to get KO'd from single punches.
IMO his chin is only slightly above average. His heart (or cojones, however you want to refer to it) is quite impressive though.
He got tagged on more than one occasion in the FIRST round and you could tell from his unsteady legs that he was affected. That does not signify a good chin.
You guys need to watch a bit closer. Everytime he was hit flush he was hurt. His chin isn't great at all, he gets dizzy very often. HIS LEGS on the other hand are something to behold. He showed all teh for sure signs of being hurt everytime he was hit. THe constant bouncing to get his legs back (often times his feet would tingle during the bounce, signifying he was hurt). The clinching, or the machismo to to hide it.
Dudes balls are huge, i'll give you that. He completely changed styles in the last two rounds and decided "**** it".. and just began walking into punches trying to block and return fire.
thats not him changing his style. thats him reverting. hes not a boxer. not at all.
