Baldomir couldn't cut the ring when he got Floyd backing up and it ended up being a long night for Carlos. Castillo, who's not really fast at all, one of the best pressure fighters in his era, because he could cut off the ring against anyone. He cut that ring off the last 7-8 rounds of the first Floyd fight, kept Floyd on those ropes a ton, and beat him I though. I had it 6-6 in rounds, but the one point deduction had me scoring it 114-113 Castillo when I wathced it live. Then, Floyd beat him 8-4 in rounds in the rematch I thought.
The main reason I think Manny will eventually struggle with Floyd IF THEY EVER FIGHT, is because he does not know how to cut the ring off, or at least that's how it looked all 3 times against Marquez. He'd get Marquez backing up, and when Marquez' wasn't countering, Manny would come forward to attack, but couldn't cut the ring off from Marquez and trap him. I think Manny will get Floyd backing up, but he won't be able to keep him backing up into the ropes or trap him, because he can't the ring off to save his mommas life.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion in the Castillo fight...doesnt add up! If you watched it live like you said you did then you would have remembered Castillo getting a point taking first for several low blows...
And like I have said over and over...if you truly watched both fights...the second fight was a lot closer and was scored closer...
There is no 1 attribute that would help you beat Floyd...This is what people don't understand and don't realize even after Mayweather himself has told you over and over again...He's GOD gifted!...You combine that with his up bringing in boxing, speed, reflexes, defense and what do get? 42-0!
a referee that will allow you to fight on the inside, and a referee that wont allow floyd to use them fcukin elbows. so basically dont have joe cortez as the ref!!!
but an actual attribute, excellent timing id say is the number 1 attribute you need.
floyd fought alot of inside fighter and beat them at their own game. he outclassed hatton on the inside, beat the dog**** out of chavez on the inside too.
Pressure, if that's an attribute I guess. I think someone that's a relentless pressure fighter, that doesn't gas, can beat Mayweather.
mayweather eats pressure fighters alive. alot of ppl just assume a pressure fighter would beat him bcuz thats generally what a great boxer with alot of speed struggles against. guys who can wear them down, but not floyd.
a taller fighter with a great jab would create the most problems for floyd. but tbh no one style can beat floyd, hes so well rounded he will adapt. you need to be able to adapt as well and fight in several different styles, just pressure will never work. chavez, hatton, castillo and corrales all put relentless pressure on him and he shined againt them all, hell he beat castillos pressure with one arm in the first fight.
a good jab alone wont beat him either, but its a good way to start against any fighter and if floyd has shown a weakness its that he can get hit by a left jab.
a smart fighter
look at roy jones vs toney, look at how he sets up his punches, because one thing you know about floyd, is how he will react to each punch

all you need is manny , fight manny you puto!!!
In all seriousness I think at this point, most boxers and real fans both know that pac really aint even close to being in Floyds league. His skill level is far superior. A fighter would need to be perfect in every aspect for all twelve rounds with a combination of floyd having a off night which is rare. Or catch him with a good shot like mosely did and try to finish him before he could recover. Truthfully there is no one under 160 that can beat him
what atrributes are needed to beat him? well, if they let fighters start bringin in weapons into the ring, that might beat him finally, other than that, just wait for him to retire permanently i guess...
My guess at this point, a solid jab you can work off of all night. Considering that so far everything i thought would work hasn't, can't say i have much confidence in that strategy either.
To beat Mayweather you need more than just strength+speed. Every single opponent he faces says the same thing! You need the whole package which not many guys out there have got!
I know you said number one, but i think feints and timing are equally as important.
Floyd reacts to subtle movements a fighter makes. Feints will open him up a little bit more.
Timing is key when facing a guy like Floyd. Good timing usually slows down an opponents offensive output, Floyd isn't very active anyway. I've seen in the past where Floyd does the pull counter and will leave the left hand low; something that a figher with good timing might be able to take advantage of.
Aside from the physical aspects, mental toughness and focus. Can't get discouraged or over eager against a guy like Mayweather. It's one of the reasons why I think Cotto is a dangerous fight for him.
Agreed, I think Cotto is a dangerous fight for Floyd, alot of people are writing Cotto off, I still think Floyd will win, but Cotto is going to have his moments againts Floyd.

Pressure, aggression, determination .....above all, a total lack of respect for Floyd in the ring. Keep your eyes on him at all times, don't touch gloves, don't hug him, be ready to swing at the breakup of every clinch...otherwise, he will punch you on the break, sucker punch you or elbow you in the face.
Why guys show so much respect to him is stupid, you are there to win, not be the guys buddy.
You need several attributes;
1- hand speed (like the 1st 5 rounds of the Judah/PBF fight)
2- activity/punch output (Jose Luis Castillo) you cant let him get comfortable and sit in the pocket.
3- Pressure (pressure is good but you need to use it smartly, you cant be reckless like Hatton)
You have to be relentless. I think a prime Margarito & the Punisher had the stuff needed to win. Keep coming forward & throwing power shots. Most Floyd opponents get into a thinking match, become hesitant & get out-thought and outboxed easily.
