Obviously we all want to see him fight Pac
But if he defeats the former unified middleweight champ then I cant see how anyone could question his legacy should he then retire
Obviously haters and pac fan boys will be all over this.... but im just a boxing fan
How when Martinez isn't better than Pacquiao?
Floyd needs to face Manny period. Until then, people will continue to question his career.
lol Fighting manny won't prove anything. People have questioned Floyd's career since he started boxing. lol, You think by fighting Manny it will stop?
Pac hasn't accomplished sh*t since 2009, people will write him off the second he steps in the ring with Floyd. Bob is a smart man which is why Pac will not fight Floyd until it's his last fight.
Pactarrds just hate Martinez because Pac agreed to fight him at 150 and Martinez said ok while Pac said he was "too good" or was that what they said Mosley was a few years ago?
ROFL if Floyd is so bad ass let's see him fight Chavez Jr. Who's also a 'middleweight' . If Floyd goes up to 160 and beat Chavez the 'cruiserweight' body punch killa' jr then ya Floyd's #1 of all times imo. Until he mans up and fight a legitimate superthreat then he is a nobody who beat up a bunch of bums and has beens.
Also undefeated records don't mean ****
Joe Calzaghe is undefeated too. brahs
and Chavez Jr >then floyd already at age 25
If Floyd beat only nobody`s and has been like you say how come he`s considered the best by most people?Last time i checked you can`t get that type of rating unless you beat good fighters or else Chavez jnr and Saul Alvarez would be in the top ten and Alvarez has almost as much professional fights as Floyd and Chavez Junior has more professional fights then Floyd.

I hope you're joking about Chavez Jr.
Are you insinuating that Floyd would be afraid of fighting Chavez Jr? Chavez Jr is in another level than Floyd, and i'm talking about a lower level, way lower.
Chavez Jr's daddy would be lucky to win 2-3 rounds against Floyd.
Since a fight between Mayweather and Martinez at 154 is looking closer and closer to reality every day, with Martinez saying he's going back to 154, and Mayweather's next fight being at 154. Expect more and more people to dismiss the fight as an average match up and expect them to bring up more names that Floyd should fight other than Martinez if he wants to "enhance his legacy".
People saying at 154 the fight means nothing for Floyd's career, only at 160 it does. It means more at 160, but it means a lot at 154 to begin with. Pac the coward that so many people think so highly of, wouldn't even fight Martinez at 150, because he is afraid of getting brutally knocked out by him...Yet Floyd is the one being called a coward and this and that. All I call Floyd is a greedy bastard for not accepting 50-50 with Pacquiao, other than that, Floyd is the superior fighter over Pacquiao, and he takes on the better challenges aside from this upcoming one against Cotto.
He's not the Lineal Champion.
Just checked it out, feelin dumb for not checkin it out before I posted lol. He could fight Canelo this year tho (if the Pac fight falls through) and that fight would be for the lineal title. Mayweather= first 5-time lineal champ?? it could happen.

His legacy is already set.Only haters raise the bar real high hoping he can`t reach it so they could say he does`nt have a great legacy.
If Pacquiao has another mediocre performance, then yes Martinez with a belt at 154 would mean a little more. Martinez with a belt at 160 is more valuable cuz he would most likely be viewed as the underdog, which is very rare. Beating Martinez at 160 makes him a 5 time lineal champ (assuming he beats Cotto, who's the 154lb lineal champ).
He's not the Lineal Champion.
No fight is edging the Pac fight.

Taking a belt off of Martinez at 160 is a milestone that would be respected by everyone. That's the only match that fully surpasses the Pac fight. If Martinez can win a belt at 154 first, then it would slightly edge the Pac fight.

If Mayweather beat Martinez, people would say Martinez was old. Same thing they said about Mosley.
Before the fight, it enhances his legacy. After the fight, we know the rest.
I'd like to see Mayweather fight Martinez. At 154 would enhance his legacy. At 160, even more.
his legacy a be set
if he beats martinez then hell yeah.....cotto pac-man and martinez is all floyd need 4 legacy....throw alvarez as a warm up when u get out before facing martinez though
who are these fighters he ducked?
Don't listen to that guy. He's the same guy that said Joe Louis never fought anyone but Lennox Lewis is the best HW ever in his eyes.
floyds legacy is non existent. he ducked at least 5 prime fighters and actually he doesnt even belong into the hall of fame. top 50 on the ATG list is where he belongs. name another fighter in the history of boxing who ducked so many fighters?

You should youtube the Mayweather/Costas interview. Anyone who watched it wouldn't have bothered making this thread IMO. I'm just a boxing fan too.
He shouldnt retire but for me if he beats Martinez then yes. To me it wont matter if he loses a fight after that his legacy is set. But cannot have controversy must be a win in eyes of everyone.
This
If he beats Martinez at 154, he shouldn't retire, but he wouldn't need Manny IF THAT HAPPENED.
& That
