Slightly mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's great to see Martinez at this weight, cause they are more HBO worthy options for him. And it increases the possiblity of a Floyd fight. On the other hand, before today, I was thinking that Kirkland could just run though 154, Canelo included. Now, maybe not.

He's be the best at 154.. He's capable of beating Canelo, Mundine, Cotto, Kirkland, K9 etc. Mayweather beats him though.

I really want Martinez to fight some of the top guys at 160. There are some really good matchups there. I don't like his desperation for a payday and draining himself down to 154. Martinez is getting old and wants to cash out. Nobody at 160 gives him a payday that he's looking for.... even though it would be nice to see him stay there.

If he can't make 154 healthy then why not, Chavez jr isnt going to fight him and there isn't much to do at 160 to be honest, 154 still has names like Cotto, Mayweather, Canelo and lesser known names like Kirkland, so it's not a bad move.

that's a mismatch...i don't know what's great about it. Maybe, but isn't Matinez vs almost everyone at 154 a mismatch? Most of the guys I'm seeing at 154 don't look particularly better than Canelo. At least Canelo has his size advantage. He blows up to 170 on fight night.

Martinez should fight a 3rd fight with Paul Williams at 154 in July/August. Than, go for Mayweather if Floyd wants it. Key phrase; 'if Floyd wants it'.
