DuBoef said Gamboa had agreed to the Rios fight and that he has an ample paperwork trail to back it up, even though the official bout agreement isn't signed yet. (It's standard practice in boxing for a formal bout agreement to go unsigned until well into a promotion.)

My question is, how can Gamboa get in trouble for something that doesn't have any ink on it yet? I think this is TR's fault for getting verbal agreements and charging for venues that they haven't even established.
Though I'm not excusing Gamboa, the promotional company has to act as the "grown up" and take the process more seriously and professionally.
Really bro? You can't connect the dots?
Cotto is getting his biggest payday because he's FIGHTING Mayweather.
Gamboa isn't fighting Mayweather. Mayweather has no quality fighters under his "banner." Mayweather Promotions is nothing but a way for him to shield his profits under a corporation name. He uses Golden Boy for everything, and Gamboa will be fighting GBP promotions.
Again, Mayweather can't offer Gamboa nothing except the opportunity to fight Golden Boy fighters, in co-collaborations w/ Golden Boy.
Put yourself in Gamboa's shoes, if Mayweather is talking about you and your name is not PAC, you must be doing something that's catching his attention for something lucrative. If you were Gamboa wouldn't at least listen?

I have a feeling all Al Haymon fighters will one day fall under Mayweather Promotions. Mayweather will be the face, like DLH, and Haymon will be the brains like Schaefer.
apparently not
bout agreements literally get signed days before the fight when all parties are present (during fight week) all the time now that people are aware of this all of sudden it becomes an issue?
lol
That's messed up. If Floyd and Pac were to actually have press conferences and tours, and have tickets sold; then we could still end up with a cancelled fight. Sadly, I could see that happening.
Really?..well tell me why in 39 pro fights Miguel Cottos purse for the Mayweather bout is more than any of his previous 39 fights with Top Rank?

I thought everyone knew this.

The last fight I went to was Gamboa vs Solis with Mikey on the undercard, even then I was nervous about buying the ticket months in advance, because stuff like this always happens.
It is lame, and really that isn't the reason that statement is always on the card but it works in the promoters favor none the less.
Shit always happens in boxing, but like anything else if something seems to good to be true it is best to take a real hard look.
Rios will probably be in an exciting fight, so atleast most will get a good show even if it is not what most were expecting.
I think the event will still come off with Rios fighting someone else, the card is subject to change~ so no refunds.:gay:
It pretty much sounds like a bait and switch though, if they knew there were issues and Top Rank aren't idiots so I have to assume they atleast had a clue that everything wasn't rosey.
Really blame the guy that will get nothing but shit or the promotional company that will still make money probably more paying an opponent less.

how can you sell tickets to a fight and hold press conferences across the nation when the fight isnt signed??
Remember when Arum made Cotto-Marg before Marg actualy had a license. The old man is senile.
i guess gamboa does want extra money and is using all the power he thinks he has, im curious to find out if top rank will pay him or let the fight fold
You know why Donaire didn't get away right? Beause Top Rank and GBP have an agreement about not signing guys away from the other.
Top Rank and Mayweather Promotions have no such deal.
I believe Florida is a right to work state, so Top Rank can't do shit about him having fights there, you can't stop people from working in right to work states~

Most people don't or didn't, cause everyone is under the impression that Gamboa is gonna get the sh!t sued out of him, including me.
I don't know how well verbal agreements hold up in court, but it's anything like Judge Judy, all Gamboa has to say is that they never made any verbal agreement.
That's the worst part, now I don't know if the tickets are non refundable, but this will bite TR on a$$ if Gamboa has other plans.
