His recent opponent list looks like great fights but what were the outcomes?
De la Hoya - Past prime but not beat to **** in the Pac fight but still could only pull a SD.
Hatton - he was trash and above his limit @147. He was undefeated and that's all can be said about that.
JMM - Jumped up 2 divisions. Didn't make the agreed catch-weight. Props for schooling the **** out of JMM but styles make fights and PBF is a master defense technician.
Mosley - OLD and heavy breathing after round 2....pulled a KO punch that he couldn't finish. Again, amazing talent to shut him out the last 10 easy. Coming off a great win but LONG inbetween fight lay off.
Ortiz - SUCKER PUNCH. /end story
Where do you see P4P best or so impressed that he has made 2 of 4 over their weight. 2 OLD and PAST PRIME. 1 by sucker punch.
Now Cotto, great he came off beating CHEATO but almost looked like CHEATO was about to become victim again before it was stopped. SUSPECT!
Sorry but you can make excuses about the COTTO fight but all he's doing is fighting the name. He does not have the chance that will make PBF worry.
Yes, I wrote a thread about PBF. I am just waiting for someone to say this COTTO fight is worth buying and PBF should be P4P over his recent fights that are overexaggerated without looking at the facts above?
I don't have him p4p mainly because of his inactivity. But I think its clear that he's most likely the best fighter alive with a weak resume in the last 6-7 years. Doesn't change the fact that this Cotto fight will be his biggest test...since, I'm going back to the days of Castillo. He's moving up, Cotto still has a pulse, movement, power and life in him.
It'll be a good fight because Mayweather's legs aren't what they use to be, Cotto can still take a punch and press forward.
And what fight were you watching, Margarito was never in control. Just because he said it was his best round, doesn't mean much when in the same round, Cotto out muscled him, punished him in the head and body and outlanded him.
Mayweather will probably win because he's just greater, doesn't mean that it can't be a great night for boxing. One left hook from Cotto can change the dynamics of the fight. You mention Mosley and gassing after one punch, all that means is that Mayweather is reaching a point where the punches are landing and it just means that it takes one fighter to capitalize on it. Can Cotto? Who knows, thats why its worth finding out. Its two HoF fighters near their peak fighting eachother. Grab some friends, order some pizza and beers, and stop b*tching and have a good time
