Mijares vs Donaire?

Jones is way to big and that would be a very tough match. Arum wants marquez to look good. With so many other good fighters tied up at the moment. I can't think of any other fighter for Marquez that Arum would matchup him up with for an in house fight.

Marquez I'm sure has a pretty big guarantee, that's the only reason I can think of why this is ppv. Its not that arum is being a smart business man its more that arum is obligated to pay jmm. So that's why it doesn't matter if the ppv sucks as long has jmm gets his $2-$3 million or whatever it may be that's all that counts to arum. Good point, I never though of that. Since Donaire's matchup won't affect sales, we're stuck with whoever Arum feels like. But if they're gonna put this in Cowboys stadium than they should get a decent opponent for Marquez. Miguel Vazquez can't draw flies so Arum won't want to risk a Marquez-Pac IV. But would Gesta - Marquez sell more than Marquez - Mike Jones? Mike Jones TR and is a better opponent and has more potential star power than Gesta imo. Gesta is a future fringe contender imo. Winner of a Marquez-Mike Jones showdown gets Pacquiao? Wonder if Arum would do that.

Koncz hates Donaire and demands a cut from Pinoy fighters in a Pac undercard. So that won't happen anytime soon. I know quite a few Pinoys and Filipino Americans that don't know who Donaire is. Being on a Pac undercard would solve that. Since Donaire's opponent wouldn't affect sales much. From a business standpoint, only Marquez's opponent would affect sales. Morales would be a profitable matchup but I think Morales fights for GBP. Can't think of a viable opponent for Marquez other than Antonio Demarco with so many tied up with opponents. Miguel Vazquez has no draw so I don't think Arum would make that matchup. Mike Jones vs Juan Manuel Marquez? anyone?

Yep. The only way this card could do over 100k is if marquez was fighting Morales. 6,000 paid tickets, 85k total ppv buys. I predict 8,500 paid tickets and 150,000 ppv buys. Arum is a good salesman. Arum should maybe move this card to a smaller venue. How many buys do you think there would be if it was: Marquez vs Miguel Vazquez (He's looking for a spot on Pac undercard why not this instead?) Donaire vs Nishioka Both are good opponents for Marquez and Donaire but aren't very popular in the US. Nishioka would bring in the Japanese audience. With this card, despite the better opponents, I don't see the buys and ticket sales to be that much better. But this card would be better for boxing fans.

Wait this is ppv? I wouldn't mind if it was boxing after dark or something but this is a terrible ppv if that's the case. The hell is top rank thinking? Cowboys stadium and ppv with two mismatcheis?? Sadly, I think with the nationalistic theme and venue, the public will eat it up. One guaranteed win for Mexico (Marquez) and one win for Pinoys (Donaire). I would prefer two mismatches in favor of Filipino fighters lol.

Mijares, that's worse than the Terrazas matchup. Mijares has had more fights than Donaire at 122 but fought most of his fights at 115 and is past his prime. Useless fight in a PI VS Mex card. Donaire might as well fight a 126 tune up fight and move up to 126 if he doesn't fight Nishioka or Rigondeaux. I'd rather see Donaire fight a low ranked 126 lb fighter than a blown up past prime Mijares at 122. A mediocre fighter at 126 like Robinson Castellanos would interest me more than a Mijares matchup at 122.

Donaire vs. Mijares a fight that should of been made around late 07-early 08 when it would of matter the most. Donaire got jealous of Mayweather so he felt like he had to one up him so he's going with Mijares.

In the Darchinyan fight, Mijares started using a different style and Darchinyan, who fought the best fight I've ever seen from him, crushed him for it. Mijares has kind of returned to his previous style, but his reflexes arent as sharp and darchinyan's beating took something out of him. He's done a good job of rebounding since his horrible 2009. Not sure if it deserves a shot at Donaire, but oh well. It's a stay busy fight against a notable mexican. The whole idea is to have a Pinoy-Mexican card. That being said, I don't think Marquez has agreed on fighting Gesta, that's just Arum's plans. Though we know what Arum wants, Arum normally gets. I know what arum wants and I knew it was some mex vs pinoy card, but still Marquez is just as elite as Pacquiao, Mayweather Marquez, Cotto, Martinez,ect,ect. He should be aiming at Top people!!! JMM fighitng gesta is like floyd fighting Aydin!!! And Donaire needs to get serious!!! Mijares? no thanks!!

I guess top rank knows they will lose money on PPV so they are trying to minimize their losses. A waste of time for both JMM and Donaire. Why not at least try to put this on CBS (rumored boxing deal) instead of an obscure PPV that nobody will buy and watch.
