no offense, but Maidana isnt exactly an ATG were talking about here. Yes, he has given other fighters trouble...but thats because hes tough as hell, and he went in against two guys that are pretty fragile and inexperienced in the fights he gets the most credit for(Khan and Ortiz)
lets not forget how Maidana was pushed to the limit against old, shot fighters like Chop Chop and Morales.
Alexander has never been a bad fighter, he just gets a bad wrap because people are angry at his hometown decisions and other ring antics. hes not amazing either, but Maidana's style just matched up perfectly for him, much like Urango.
I agree with everything here. Alexander still has the same flaws and strengths. Maidana matched up well with those strengths.
The only thing Alexander did wrong was clinch too much and shout after every punch.
True that.
The clinching drained the fight of some of the excitement- but both fighters were responsible, perhaps Devon even a little more so since he was using the clinch as a defensive strategy.
Why not? He boxed brilliantly, mixing in straight punches with his uppercuts and hooks. Plus he flashed a nice body attack at times too.
And he was hitting with power!
Give him credit bro.
I think a lot of people gained respect for Alexander tonight and are looking forward to his next fight.
I'd like to see Devon vs Khan myself.
Smoger allowed a lot of stuff to happen.....I wish he stopped Devon from holding so much. I thought it was illegal. Sheeeid I wish MORE refs would penalize these dudes for excessive holding (and boring us to death with it).
before I start to hype up Devon, I need to know what was wrong with Maidana. I feel there gotta be something wrong with him as he seemed to fight without inspiration and felt to be sad in the post interview, like someone close had recently passed away or something like that. There wasn't the usual fire in his determination and the way he walk forward with rage in his eyes.
Maybe something comes up post fight, let's wait.
Agree sth wasn't right with him
OI, ped using-accusation warning alert!!!! nyahahaha nahh, its only pacquiao that you are hating at, youll never accuse them, only pacquiao to you.:439:
Nah its hating on the pac fanboys the most idiotic fanbase on the planet , they know very little about boxing thats why they buy hype so freely .
its entirely possible that Maidana is going downhill physically. I mean, he pretty much soaks up punishment in every one of his fights. and personally I thought he looked better against Kotelnik than any one of his recent fights.
Hes one of those fighters that I can imagine will suddenly get beaten up by a relative nobody on some random card some time in the future. Once his durability and tenacity go, he doesnt have much left.
but, we will have to see.

I saw that same thing, its like he didn't have the hunger. He had no motivation and no inspiration to fight.
........all trolling aside, he impressed me.
Wasn't expecting him to shut Maidana out
:usa1:
Ok, cool.
Alexander has looked like crap in his last few fights but tonight he put on a show, just thought he deserved some praise.
Another fighter looks crap and moves up to the next division and does well , Ortiz Cotto and now Devon , weight dont mean nothing right lol .
