This was such a good fight imo,and really showed the true skills/toughness of Ward,as well as the toughness and heart of Froch..I also loved that Froch was classy at the end of the fight(even tho he was clearly heart broken he lost)and gave Ward his just due..Great fight and clearly crowned the fighter of 2011...
Well he did say, this was the first time Ward "really" impressed him. I'm sure he was normally impressed by Ward shutting out the, then, Super 6 Favorite and WBA Champion 42-1, Mikkel Kessler.
At 28 years old, those two wins, Kessler and Froch are very good wins. Then he has wins over Arthur Abraham, Sakio Bika, and a still-dangerous at the time Edison Miranda. He's also top 5 P4P in The Ring's list, Super 6 winner, and Olympic Gold Medalist. This guy's career has the makings to be All Time Great. He's accomplished so much for his age.
The first part is right. I was first really impressed by Ward in the froch fight.
Kessler win was ok and the other wins you mentioned were was less than impressive. Especially considering other guys defeated those dudes in a much much more impressive fashion.
There are at bare minimum 4 fighters with waaaaaay better resumes than ward (fact) but pfp is subjective so i wont argue position. I also cannot have a top 5 pfp guy that cant knockout anyone unless their skills are ungodly like sweet pea. He cant knock out/stop or kd anyone at all.
Ward looked tired at the very end, the championship rounds. Those were the only rounds I saw him really being pushed.
Ward had to fight really hard against Bika, THROUGHOUT the whole fight. Against Bika, he had to bring his A-game.
I agree he looked more tired in the last few rounds compared to the Bika fight.
But I think the Bika fight was more competitive.
Froch really did very little that was effective against Ward.
But Froch also fought Ward clean,Bika did every dirty move in the book(tbh they both did)...
I totally disagree,Ward was far more tired and(imo)had to give more of himself against Froch then Bika...The last four rds shows how hard Ward had to work to be damn near perfect in there..I just did not see it as being easy for him..He won clearly but not easy,it did not look like he was fighting Green in there or Kessler..

Bika arguably pushed him more than Froch did.
Froch hardly pushed him it was an easy nights work with one hand for Ward.

I expected Ward to beat Froch much easier, which may sound crazy considering he won almost every round, but Ward really worked, you could see it in him the last couple rounds. That's why I gained more respect for Froch.
Froch was never a good boxer or going to adjust to Ward at all, he was going to have to be competitive through his grit and chin, I respect the fact that he was there for all 12 rounds, and never gave Ward a second to breathe and get too comfortable.
$h!t, IMO Froch came on strong in the championship rounds, Ward seemed to be tiring to me.
Yeah, how the hell did Froch's stock go up for this fight? As in he was beaten a 3rd time and Lucian Bute wants a piece of that ass now, to beat him a 4th time? I don't get it. How does your stock go up after losing a wide unanimous decision. Unless he got robbed, or lost in a valiant effort knocking down Ward a couple of times, or exposed some weaknesses in Ward. But he did none of that, he lost a wide UD like any boxing fan with at least one brain cell would have predicted.

Kev are you on ya rag or something??Ya acting like a moody prick..Froch's stock did not drop because he pushed Ward..Something none of Wards previous opponents could say..This was a decent fight,Ward did clearly win but it damn sure was not easy..Take a peek at Wards face at fights end..Oh and that's not from elbows and headbutts, ala Bika...

Ward is #1 on mine. I feel no need to keep cherrypicking divalike fighters too high on mine.

My fellow Broward alchoholic, can you explain to me how this is the 1st time that Ward impressed you please???

Ward took him to school like I expected and was saying every since the final was announced.
Different class of fighters and Froch's stock didn't go up for me in this fight. He just showed how one dimensional he is and his inability to adjust.

He did'nt beat him cause he got KO'd but taylor really should of been Carl's first lose.
He didn't beat him cause he got KO'd but Michael Pinnock really should have been Carl's first loss.
Who do you think beat him other than Kessler, Dirrell and Ward?

It was a one-sided fight where I think the stock of both fighters increased. Froch lost but was tough and never stopped, he made Ward really work even in domination. Ward of course was brilliant, great, great effort from him.
Great post,as usual...
