Adrien Broner definitely showed that he's a huge future talent for the sport. Seems to try way too hard to sell himself but at the moment, his talent appears to be top notch. I'm interested in seeing how he develops over the course of his career.
bumped this thread to say i told you so and for nothing else.
if you were more sold on perez than you were on broner i feel sorry for you, especially given the events of saturday and the huge gap in class that was apparent during and before (if you know where to look,) the fight
Hopefully he puts on a performance befitting of the praise he receives from his fans on here.... Looking forward to it.....
Not sold yet..... WAR Perez
Broner's strict counterpunching style is going to lose him winnable fights. In the DPDL fight, he couldn't time and pinpoint his counterpunches, but it took him about 5 rounds to adjust to Ponce De Leon and after adjusting for 1-2 rounds and clearly winning the rounds (through leading), he reverted back to his familiar style of strictly counterpunching (what wasn't working) and continued to struggle as he had in previous rounds.
Eloy is going to give him trouble tonight, his speed and footwork can throw off Broner's timing. Perez has trouble against a well timed jab and right hand, but he doesn't have to worry about that tonight. If he feints through his footwork, jabs, is busy (50-60 punches per round is good against Broner), and a few other tactics, he can win this fight (of course, he's going to have to handle Broner's power well the few times he will land and be able to keep up his level of activity).
that's true but the division he's in is pure garbage. 126 and 135 are much better yet he stays at 130 even though he could fight at either. he's more like floyd then we realize. when a division is hot floyd runs/retires but when there are baldomirs around he's back! it's just a coincidence he somehow misses all the great fighters around him. what a shame.
christ you guys are reaching
are you serious?
he's 22 years old and he just got on the big stages within the last year and change.

I ave no doubt Broner will move up eventually, he just finally won a belt at 130. People need to relax.
And yeah, Floyd NEVER fought anyone. He fought the best guys at 130 and 135, 140 was a waste, and 147 has been okay.
The only guy you can seriously say Floyd hasn't fought now was Antonio Margarito. Sorry, I don't consider a Tszyu at 140, who had been retired for 2 years, as an avoided guy. Also, Mayweather and Top Rank were trying to put together a Mayweather-Tszyu bout in 2005 after Tszyu-Hatton and Mayweather-Gatti but Tszyu lost, oh well. Than Mayweather fought Hatton in 07' when he was P4P anyway. And don't even come in here saying Floyd avoided Casamayor at 130, Johnston at 135, Spadafora at 135, etc. Floyd fought far and away the best at 130.
While Floyd was beating Genaro Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Carlos Gerena, Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, and Jesus Chavez, Joel was around fighting Edwin Santana, Roberto Garcia, David Santos, Antonio Hernandez, etc. And then at 135, Floyd fought and beat Castillo, the best Lightweight at the time and of his era at 135.
And during 2005-2006 people seem to forget that Floyd was calling for a fight with Cotto at 140-147, to which Top Rank replied with "Cotto isn't ready for Floyd". But, when Floyd dumped Top Rank and announced he was done after Hatton, it became Floyd is ducking Cotto. Now, Floyd's fighting a past prime-still good Cotto at 154. So, there's a name off that list that you probably have.
The only guy you can even argue at all with is Antonio Margarito or maybe Paul Williams.
The fact that all you do is come here day after day and bash Floyd is just dumb, as well as repetitive.

^^^^Seriously?
i say, lets see what he does in his fight versus perez and more importantly, lets see who he fights next. if he commences with the usual bull**** cherrypicking ill be the first to call him out.
all i want tho is my uchiyama vs broner fight. doubt ill get it tho, because neither fighter is gonna be willing to travel. uchis a beast tho.
Broner by TKO. Perez doesn't have enough power to keep Broner honest or enough for Broner to repsect it.
I love how people say Broner is a cherry picker. He was suppose to fight Ricky Burns when he was at 130, it's not his fault Burns ran to 135 instead of fighting Broner. Broner has never shied away from anyone, yet at least.

I don't think Eloy is a bad fight for Broner, the division is pretty whack and Broner has a lot to prove. THe only reason Broner is so highly thought of in that division is it is one of the worst in boxing and Broner is one of the few guys people even recognize.
Uchiyama is clearly the best but after that you could put the next few guys in a bag mix it up and pull them out in any order and not be that far off~
i like broner but brandon rios would make him his *****
he'd walk right through his punches. rios is a massive LW. one of the biggest of all time. he used to gain 20 lbs in 24 hours after the weigh in
i will say this : the last rios weigh in was the most weight drained fighter i've ever seen and i do think it will handicap him to fight there again.
he's a 140 lber and eventually a full blown WW before this is all over.
yea i know that why i said that.
Also because Broner said he would like to fight Rios.
Rios would murder this kid.
I would love for Broner to talk that way to Rios if they fight.
