who you got? i live pavlik's straight punches in that fight, but I'd love to see it.++
Yeah it's Pavlik all day. Paviks Jab is still nasty enough to give Jr fits. One thing Pavlik needs to work on is head movement.
Chavez Jr still gets hit....a LOT. He also would barely put a dent in Kelly, and they'd be about the same exact size come fight night, pavlik maybe 4lbs less.
This would end well for Chavez, no matter what Pavlik shows up. He just gets hit too much. Pavlik gets confidence early on just by knowing he can land on the kid IMO.

If they fought tomorrow. Chavez Jr.
Pavlik needs tune-ups. If he can get to 75% of what he had, I would favor him over Chavez.
Pavlik-Chavez Jr is the fight I want.
160 or CW above 160.
Pavlik's inactivity and Chavez's improvement have evened this up considerably.

he seemed alittle uncomfortable or nervous maybe its the new enviorment
i completely disagree with this. Ive seen a number of different interviews from the gym with him and he looks very comfortable there.
he's back to pumping up his sparring partners
he's the only guy i can remember to thank them so much. i remember he thanked them for "beating him up" in an interview in the ring after one of his fights.
if he's back where he should be mentally he can still have a go at 160 if he can actually make the weight. he looks very big. there are some styles at 168 that he could deal with as well if he gets back to his old form. and there are some he should avoid.
keep him away from bute, dirrell, and most importantly andre ward and i think he can hang with these guys if he really gets back to form and stays clean:
glen johnson at this stage? kelly could hang with him in his prime, and i think it's possible that he can get back to a level where he could decision him in the next year.
faded kessler? i think that's still a decent fight
chavez once he can no longer make 160? i think kelly would put a dent in his face
the lower tier guys like abraham and bika? great fights in terms of action. i think kelly wins them both
if pavlik is treating himself right and has cleaned up and is training full bore i'd love to see him make a comeback. he's never been stopped, never taken a serious sustained beating, even if he did take lots of hard punches in defeat and victory. hopkins schooled him more than he beat him up.
and one last thing, worth whatever it may be worth:
pavlik is 29 years old.

I think Kelly's looked pretty good on his videos from Garcia's gym.
Great idea to move to Oxnard for training and the best idea ever to leave Loew. wish him luck.
dude definitely still has pop. I wonder what he weights right now, i have no sound on this computer.

Edit: i should probably talk about the video.
he reacted to the punches before they hit him. that's a good sign. he's looking decent physically in terms of his weight and his speed and movement. doesnt look old or that out of shape
he's obviously not really trying to starch these guys but his punches dont have a ton of snap on them yet. that will come as he gets his rythm back and works on timing his opponents and his own shots.
was that the benevidez brother (stocky kid sparring pavlik?) i thought i recognized the father, and saw a shirt with the name on it. he's a young kid and he needs to lose some serious weight but they say he's a pretty damn good fighter, lol. too to fight in anything but the open division, lol. i guess he'd just beat those kids up
seen him sparring his brother, who is a total monster
Pavlik doesn't look that sharp in that video but I guess you gotta cut him some slack; he said that the last time he sparred was in July. I'm glad he's back though....
he looked very basic and not very good at that, but time will tell, he'll no doubt improve
