Note: I'm a fan of both Klit bros and respect all they have done.
But like the question says.
Doesn't matter who. Lets say Seth Mitchell becomes Champ after the Bros retire.
What happens?
Hurt, help or indifferent?
American or not, outside of the Klits the division is weak. The sport needs good match ups and an exciting champion to bring the division back to prominence. Doesn't matter where they're from.
depends on how entertaining they are. If they bring excitement, it would be awesome for boxing. There would be a ton of hype and media coverage. If he's boring, that hype would certainly decline with time.
More Chisoras and fewer Hayes and you'd be surprised how the division picks up......regardless of where they come from. Say what you want about Chisora the dude brings it and doesn't run up a white flag after a couple of rounds. He comes to at least TRY and win and that's what people want to see.

I totally agree with both of these posts.
Contrary to what the Klitlickers think, most of us like the Klits for the way they conduct themselves but unfortunately, that's where it ends. The problem is that they're incredibly boring inside and outside of the ring. Having seen Chisora and loudmouth Haye provide more excitement in this last weekend than what both the Klits have served us since Lewis' retirement, it is clear that the Division is badly lacking regardless of colour or what country the Boxer hails from.
What we desperately need at the summit of boxing is charisma, excitement, headline making news and thrilling fights. Coupled with brilliant technicians who look after their bodies too.

Couldn't have said it any better myself

Quite funny you mention that, cause I always imagine Mitchell as the undisupted champion after the K's retire.
Yeah...no question boxing will become a lot more popular, especially the heavyweights and many of them title defenses getting hyped up with huge PPV numbers. To become really popular the champion also should look like a champion, I'm talking handsome in shape guys like Mitchell or Wilder contrary to guys like Chambers or Arreola (not hating, both great fighters). I can see the champ on magazine covers and invited to Letterman, Kimmel or Larry King regularly, the same that would happen now if the brothers were from the states. That will probably happen if an American manages to unify the division.
if some incredible young talent like Mike Tyson suddenly burst on the scene knocked the snot of of everybody and took out both brothers in say (berbick and spinks style) to unify the belts it would do wonders for the sports popularity. If some medicore eddie chambers or something struggled his way to the belts after the brothers retire it wouldn't do sh!t
Seeing as the K bros get the highest TV ratings for boxing on HBO and seem to be the only other boxers outside of Manny and May who trend up online in the US when they fight ... I'm pretty sure having a US boxer in their position would at the very least double the ratings and attention paid.
Currently NBC is getting back into boxing in a small way so far. Along with the cable company comcast they have begun to invest serious money into building the next great American HW champ. They have actually stated the reason NBC stopped showing boxing in the first place was because HBO kept offering high pay days they couldn't keep up with. Now NBC will use outside money from comcast to keep their draw to themselves. They know the difference it will make.
If the champ is an exciting knockout guy who fights regularly against other well matched opponents and promotes himself well then I'd say it'd help the division, and boxing in general, at least in the States. Seriously though, a badass is a badass. Aside from Vittles, none of the Eastern Europeans are really bad men with the possible exception of Pulev and Szpilka. Povetkin is a pansy, Boytsov is a bum beater, Dimitrenko is a giant blond baby. It might not be classy or respectable but I'd rather a few more Chisoras in the division to spice things up. Like I said, I don't care where they come from.
nothing.. i wont expect him to be there too long. imo... wish there was more tho. like back when the slate was thriving with huge names.. i use to love the HW fights back then.
It would only raise Boxing's profile in the States. It is irrelevant of what country has an undisputed HW Champ. It's important for Boxing, itself that there is an undisputed Champ. Although, I doubt the WBA would allow it...

If you had a Tyson straight killin people or an american HWT with some charisma then things would be fine. There is nothing entertaining about the HWT division right now. The Klits need a american black Gerry Cooney the way Larry Holmes needed the real one.
"Boxing"
The whole sport..
So you think people wouldn't care much?
Well boxing, especially HW boxing is doing pretty well in Europe.
But if a fighter, like lets say Wilder rises through the ranks, getting attention the sure people would care.
But if he is a mediocre HW with so-so wins and maybe a loss and then luckily KO's Vlad, then no i dont think so. He will be like a HW Sergio, quick on the scene and no support
Put it this way, a great knockout fighter is going to excite everyone no matter where he's from. Look at Pacquiao. Maybe he's not what everyone would call a great knockout fighter, but he is very entertaining and can sell out arenas here in the states. If the Klitschko's were that exciting, they'd be right up there or even above Pacquiao. Same thing goes for fighters here. We've had our share of HW champions that no one made a big deal about. That said, we do tend to favor our fighters, but that happens in every country.
Idk what it would do but American media loves to judge how Boxing is doing by the heavyweight division. I am too young to ever remember when the heavyweight division was stacked. My favorite divisions are Welterweight, Light Middleweight and Super Middleweight.
Undoubtedly help in the US.
As to whether it would draw interest from elsewhere around the globe depends upon fighting style, an exciting champion would draw interest from everywhere.
"Boxing" or boxing in America?
If a guy like Mitchell becomes a undisputed HW champ then the HW division would be beyond garbage.
I dont think it would get crazy attention tho
