Do you actually care about Heavyweight Boxing?
Vote in poll
Edit: the reason the first 2 options are based on where you live is simply because there's a stereotype that it's mostly Americans' who don't give a damn about HW boxing (which is probably true) whereas more European based fans love it because of where the fighters are based from
i didn't vote cuz i don't feel i belong in any of the options. I used to specifically like the heavyweight division in Ali's time, but after that, boxers got huge, and slow, which made it look boring.
These guys are so big now all they do is stick a paw in front of their opponents face and clobber him with the other hand they can't see coming. I like the lighter divisions better.....way more action.
I've never really liked the hw division cuz hw fights are either slow and sluggish or end too quickly by KO... smaller weightclasses put on more entertaining back and fourth fights without ending too quickly.
NO! Why? Because their fights are extremely boring, nothing worse then watch two Flabby Dudes swinging at each other and as they swinger their flab is just flopping everywhere LOL...JUST SAYING!
The Klitschko's have never showed up to a match FAT AND OUT OF SHAPE with a fukin spare tire hanging over their Trunks...especially for YOUNGER FIGHTERS to be Out Of Shape, I give Heavyweight Boxer Malik Scott major props for taking time out and reforming/reshaping his body, I wish More Heavyweights especially AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHTS would do the same...RESPECT THE FUKING SPORT! Not saying they need to built like Holyfield or Tyson but at least be IN SHAPE and at least LOOK like you can go 12 Rounds if you need to
but Welterweight is just more entertaining, that is the Money Division, the Two Top Fighters in Boxing just so happen to be in that Division
Even if it's competitive though it might be because of the lack of skill, which would be worse than watching the Klitschkos for me. Others might disagree, but I'd rather watch Wlad and Vitali smash the fake contenders in the division then watch those same fake contenders be competitive with each other.
It'd be nice if Povetkin grew a set and we could find out how good he can be. Other than him, maybe Chisora, and maybe Fury, they are all just awful.
I think there's enough skill in the division that we wouldn't end up seeing glorified toughman contests, and whilst the overall skill level would obviously be lower I don't see that as a bad thing as far as excitement goes. Look at the British domestic scene. There've been some barnburners there where two evenly matched guys were put together with lots to lose and lots to gain. Back and forth fights with KOs galore. One of the best HW bouts of the last decade involved two decent but not outstanding fighters in Lamon Brewster and Sergei Lyakhovich. Sometimes, when there's no clear number one it can spur fighters on to greater efforts.
He was out of shape but didn't look particularly sloppy or winded. Solid win for Fury. I wouldn't mind a rematch.
Yeah solid win, not taking that away from him. I just find Fury very beatable right now.
I think the division could go one of two ways after the Klits retire. Either it descends into total farce or it becomes relatively competitive and exciting again. I hope for the latter of course, but fear that the Klits might be the last ones really holding everything together.

To be honest Fury is looking better and better and he beat Chisora pretty soundly as well.
Fury does look better but he's so sloppy and inconsistent and has so many flaws I'm amazed he's got this far. He's like a less talented more featherfisted version of Riddick Bowe, a fighter I was never particularly sold on either.
And Chisora was a blob.
Without the K brothers I see the Heavyweight division declining even further. They bring a lot of money and people to the sport. It would take a lot of years for it to get up again without them.

Currently not so much, it is partly because the heavyweight scene is whack and when I watch current guys fight at heavy I see very little bad intentions.
I am fine with heavies using the sweet science it is fun to watch a big guy be nimble and make guys miss but I expect dudes to get put to sleep with good regularity at heavy and I just don't see that very often anymore for whatever reason.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter. The heavies should primarily be the division of big punchers and the baddest of the bad. Guys nowadays are too mild and passive in and out of the ring.
It sucks, but I watch. I'd much rather watch almost any other division though. Unless the Klitschkos are fighting, I know I'm probably going to watch two guys who really suck.
wtf is there to like these days?
I only watch Klit fights. Cant remember the last time a non-Klit heavyweight impressed me.
Helenius-Chisora was pretty fun. Although I don't like Helenius. He's like a Tyson Fury who made it too high in the ranks for my own liking.
The harsh truth is that even Cristobel would batter Manny. The HW division is getting better IMO. Stunts like this will only be the top of the ice berg. Boxing needs to bring attention to the division again. The day after the fight 1 in three top yahoo articles were about boxing. They even started putting up tales of the tape for Haye-Chisora.
HBO was completely ****ing foolish for not showing this fight. I hope they're kicking themselves. If they managed over 3 million viewers for Wlad=Haye and 2 million for Adamek, the replays of this alone would have doubled that number. Likewise, Sky must be gagging on their decision not to show PPVs. This has been the biggest sport story in these parts for quite some time.
It's true what they say: boxing is only as healthy as the heavyweight division

i always prefered watching middle sized men fight as oposed to both big or small guys. you get it all with those guys, boxers, punchers, dancers etc. it makes for more interesting stylistic matchups and more well rounded fighters imo. those half sized guys dont fight at a slow pace like most HWs, they have more speed and movement and more skills than the really big guys. but at the same time they got real one punch KO power as well unlike most small guys, and i just prefer watching man sized guys fight as oposed to midgets.
short answer i watch it, not everything but more than most boxing fans i think, same thing goes for the small weights. with the HW division being in such poor shape for so long i watch it less bcuz of that though.
