Lol mine was fight night round three and I was playing as Ali vs Frazier and I kept popping him with that jab like it was nothing and I was going can he really do this an better yet can I learn how and I just started learning and went from there
My dad being a fighter and having me in the gym at a very young age. I was going to box but he put me into other sports when I was six.
Old video from him winning the St. Louis Golden Gloves in 83 at Lightwelter in the white. Heck of a fight with him and Tony Martin, they were good friends.
You're lucky to have a father who took boxing so serious. Usually you woulda been a boxer too. If my dad was an amateur boxer, I woulda been a boxer as well. Even with him not being a boxer, I seriously considered taking up boxing seriously but that was ended short with a corneal disease that needed surgery, which led to me not being able to box from doctors orders. It didn't matter anyways, I wasn't gonna get the support I needed to make it. You can't make it to boxing alone, every boxer has his story of some one who took him under their wings or something.
My dad started watching UFC/MMA in 1993.
He got me watching it when I was 4 years old, then I introduced myself to boxing during a party.
The rest is history.
That's funny cause I was a UFC fan before a boxing fan myself. But I was very very young, a child. I watched UFC cause of my dad.
Also I was a WCW fan before I was WWF fan, again cause of my dad, he was the one who watched wrestling :lol1:
My pops is basically a fan of all the sports, even "sports entertainment". Well he was, he's more in to just baseball, boxing, NFL, and basketball now. But he use to watch everything. He use to watch WCW and like crack up there, it was like comedy for him, but to it was real to me. And the first time I watched WWF was when The Rock hit Ken Shamrock with a chair in his face and Shamrock started bleeding, I shat bricks.
My pops got me into boxing. Being Nicaraguan and having a couple of fighters that were/are pretty good helped out. I have been addicted since. The first fight i remember watching was duran/leonard 3.
I got transferred into a new school and a bully took my jacket and lunch money then beat me up so I learned how to box and kicked his ass then took my jacket back

Grandpa used to be a boxer and watched all the fights with his son (my dad) who started watching with me and now i watch all fights with my son. Honestly i cant remember not watching boxing.
Man I used to love Tuesday Night Fights on USA...that and WWF and WCW on Monday nights!
Yea man. I avidly followed the 'young' up and coming Omar Sheika lol. Chris Byrd, Jimmy Thunder, Michael Carbajal and so many other fantastic names which I can't think of were showcased on this network too.
My dad sitting me down every fvcking time Sugar Ray leonard is fighting, telling me to sit and watch a magician, swinging every blow that Ray swings and especially when Leonard does that hand roll and then throw 1000 zillion punches at the sametime...I was hooked on boxing from then on..
damn dude, your dad could fuccking fight!
Thanks bro! And he was having knee problems prior to this fight with Martin. That is why he has it wrapped and when Tony knocked him down, he twisted it pretty bad. But yea man, he had a pretty decorated amateur career. He came up during a great era of boxing in St. Louis. The USA Today actually picked him to win the Gold in the 84 Olympic games. He didn't make the team, but he beat the guy that eventually won the Gold in 84, Jerry Paige. I posted about this before and IceMan John Scully dropped a few gems about how good my old man was. I've also had a chance to know alot of his good friends that came up fighting with him. The biggest name is Evander Holydfield, then there are guys like Milton McCrory (my godfather, former WBC welterweight champ), Mark Breeland, and the list goes on.
The contender Season 1 baby!
Alfonso Gomez is still one of my favorite fighters today.... which is why I was heartbroken when he lost and infuriated when the judges had it in a landslide
