Would Valero be too strong and wreckless for the younger, slicker Broner or would his supreme boxing skills and defense ability be enough to keep Valero honest?
You didnt know him, none of you did. He was 27-0 with 27 KO's, that's how ill remember him....undefeated.
Are you seriously disputing he was a nut job who killed his wife?
Anyway I'm picking Valero via KO, that's only because I haven't seen much from Boner - he needs more real fights. Please don't spout BS that he was going to be an ATG, we will never know.
As we saw in the robbery vs Daniel Ponce De Leon, Adrien Broner can not handle anything over a C+/low B fighter. I think that Valero would knock him out.
I think it's funny to say Valero had no one punch power considering almost all of his wins were in the early rounds and almost every stoppage began off of badly hurting them with... get this... one punch. He wasn't getting Joe Calzaghe stoppages, people. He was landing that one clean shot and finishing them off with a barrage. He laid a few guys out cold, too.
Also, his competition wasn't THAT bad. Look at Tyrone Brunson and compare records. I don't think Brunson fought a single guy coming off of a win during his KO streak. THOSE are bums. It's a bit of hyperbole to say Valero was beating up bums. Valero was fighting the same guys that most anybody fights at the same level of experience. It has to say SOMEthing about him in that he ran a perfect KO record (especially the first round stoppages) against not bums but regular early career competition. Personally I don't just judge that a guy isn't fighting HOFers in their debut but rather the level of experience, the streak they're running prior to the fight, and how well the prospect won the fights. Valero fought some guys with a lot of experience, a few guys with winning records, and of course easily destroyed them. You have to be something better than average to do what he did. If not then wouldn't everybody have perfect KO1 records leading up to their first tough fight? The point is that it wasn't until he fought a world champion that anybody could even be competitive and then nobody was competitive again.
People throw that 'who has he fought?' stuff out at everybody like everybody has to be Kostya Tszyu or Oscar De La Hoya.
What? people who murder there wife then commit suicide rather than face justice for the crime deserve respect? are you serious.
He doesn't deserve any respect whatsoever.
broner has his hair combed before he fights, even though it is already combed at that. no respect for that, damn fool he is.
He was also a world champion, show some respect for the dead. Especially one who died too young.
What? people who murder there wife then commit suicide rather than face justice for the crime deserve respect? are you serious.
He doesn't deserve any respect whatsoever.
When are ppl going to accept that Valero was an unproven bum beater, his ko record means nothing because it wasn't against good fighters.
Please get off the Valero hype wagon, he proved nothing but that he could beat 4th and 3rd tier fighters, not to mention he killed himself and his wife.
He was a nutjob and a hypejob.
I agree.
People look at that 27-0 27 K.O record and seem to think Valero was some kind of beast with huge power in actual fact Valero didn't even have one punch K.O power he stopped guys through accumulation his style was very sloppy also he would have been found out at the top level.
That being said Broner is also unproven at this point and needs to step up his level of comp soon.
Fair enough I just think Valero was massively overrated due to his stoppages most over soft opposition.
try and get the stoppages outta your mind and look at the way he boxed. quite a few times he just went to war and blitzed his opponents, throwing a lot of technique and tactics outta the window because he didn't need them. when he did require them a bit more, in they came and he looked great.
What power and skill level proven when?
Oh here we go, I disagree so you must not know anything about the sport, Valero is a product of soft opposition get over it.
are you honestly telling me that you haven't seen a high level of skill from valero?
if so then i stand firmly by my comment and can't really see much point in explaining anything to you because to do so i would have to explain the subtleties of boxing, which is something that would take pages of writing. and you still probably wouldn't get it.
Valero KHTFO, and very early too.
Only very defensive guys, like Guzman(yes he is a fat slob), Mayweather, JMM,ect, ect could beat him.
Broner would get smoked!!!!
I am not overrating Broner nor do i doubt Valero could have beaten him, no one is overrating Broner but when there are threads with polls having Valero favored to ko Bradley I have a problem with that,
But, this is not one of those threads. Like I sad, this wasn't asking Valero vs an elite borderline P4P level fighter. Is a Valero vs Broner thread.
Adrien "let me try to be cool, by having someone brush my hair" Broner. "peeleft:
Fair enough I just think Valero was massively overrated due to his stoppages most over soft opposition.
I don't disagree. But, why overrate Broner as well because of that?
Stop hating, mother****er was a straight beast, would most likely make Broner quit. The killer instinct alone makes you sh!t your pants. Power on each hand, with speed and crazy stamina to keep throwing bombs. Fought with one of the nastiest cuts(elbow), pitch a shut out, AND stopped Demarco.
He WAS one his way.
let alone a PERFECT record, that sh!t is hard even against bums.
Again proven against who?
Thats what i got from the DeMarco fight who is game, which he looked very impressive. Have you seen when he KO's Antillon in sparring? People have to work their way to it, he laid a mean hook that had the gym silent . Let alone the job he did on Oscar De La Hoya, training for Pacquiao, that must've f@ked up Oscar's confidence.
There's a reason why GYMs in the westcoast were buzzing when he was around.
I think this is a very interesting fantasy fight. Not sure who would win.
I agree with what everyone is saying about Valero he wasn't proven. But, this is not against an elite P4P level fighter. TS is not asking Valero vs Mayweather. He is asking Valero vs Broner. Who has yet been proven. He hasn't faced anyone who is on a higher level than Demarco.
PDL gave Broner all he could handle. And, Juanma Lopez destroyed PDL in 1 round when he stepped up. So I don't see how Broner easily wins this. Valero would be the best fighter would have faced and vice versa.
Valero just had Power...NOTHING ELSE
he was SLOW and Flat Footed...he was suppose to fight Peterson I thought Peterson would have beat Valero, he also called out Timothy Bradley and when Gary Shaw was trying to negotiate that fight, Bob Arum wasn't returning Phone Calls and avoided really trying to make that match happen
Today's boxing fans are so easy to deceive, you score a few KO's against NOBODIES and people are ready to crown you "THE GREATEST EVER" :nonono:
Broner, Peterson, Robert Guerrero, Khan, JMM, Bradley all would have boxed Circles around him...AND I think Rios probably would have out-brawled him
Valero was exciting to watch...AGAIN AVERAGE and Below Average Fighters, but he never got a chance to fight the BEST fighters in his Division
I agree with that in the bold. But, I think its ironic you will say that and then turn around and say Broner would box circles around him.
Thinking Broner would box circles around Valero means you are being easily deceived. Because, Broner hasn't proven anything in reality. At this time he's not more proven than what Valero was. So you're being easily deceived by saying that.
