Chavez Jr./Rubio card watched by over 50 million in 3 countries

Saturday's twelve round decision win by WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., against Marco Antonio "Veneno" Rubio, was viewed in Mexico by over 19 million fans. The television broadcast reached a 16 point rating mark, which added to the nearly six and a half million (5.4 rating points ) fans who watched the fight involving Robert 'Massa' Ortiz. At the end of the day, over 25 million television viewers were watching boxing in Mexico on Saturday. Citing numbers from Kantar Media – TNS National Household Ratings, Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz reported that the Donaire-Vazquez bout aired on ABS-CBN garnered 32.6% ratings for Total Philippines while GMA 7 rated 15.0% on the same timeslot. “The highest ratings were registered in South Luzon with a phenomenal 49.7% followed by Mindanao with 44.6% and another hotbed of boxing, the Visayas, with a rating of 40.1%,” said Nathanielsz. In Metro Manila, the fight rated 29.2% and in Mega Manila 27.3%. The suburbs registered a rating of 24.8%. The balance of Luzon reported 33.5%, while North Luzon was at 28.7%. GMA 7 out-rated the bout in Central Luzon where the Donaire-Vazquez match rated 21.6% on ABS-CBN, while GMA rated 22.8% on the same time slot. More reason to believe Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in BOXING is bullcrap. cotto's last 2 fights have been on ppv but his fight against foreman was on hbo n tht did 1.9million viewers

i have no idea how sky works over there but I'm telling you how it is here - 1.8 million on HBO is solid numbers these days (sadly). Hopkins vs Pascal II was the highest HBO boxing ratings since 2009, with 1.8 million views. Last Saturday's rematch between Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins on HBO attracted a viewing audience of 1.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched HBO fight since 2009. A pair of 2009 fights were more-watched than this one. The September 2009 fight between Vitali Klitschko and Chris Arreola did 2.124 million viewers, which is HBO's highest-rated fight in recent memory, and benefited from having the Mayweather vs Marquez replay preceding the live broadcast. 1.8 million is actually great HBO numbers. Really sky over in the uk which is similar 2 hbo do over a million 4 some of there fights n u could fit the uk into Texas about 30 times never mind the rest of the USA

this cant be true... BOXING IS DEAD :smashfrea on a serious note Top Rank probably made some mad money off of this television revenue and the gate was in access of $1 million not a bad little card. Mexico, Philippines, and Germany have had massive Boxing ratings over the last few years.
