To me, even if Pac were to lose to Bradley, he's still an ATG, it's just ignorant to think otherwise. But, to a lot of people, his legacy may take a hit.
What do you think???
Im pretty sure the topic is Pacquiao vs Bradley.
The only two names he knows in boxing are Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Flomo this, flomo that, he has an education similar to Manny's.
No, not at all actually. Most reasonable and unbias posters, or boxing fans, NEVER consider Pac in the Top 10 ATG, let alone the GOAT.
And a ton of people don't agree that Pac is more of an ATG than Floyd.
Anyone who considers Pac the GOAT you are tarring with unreasonable and bias brush. So maybe you are bias against Pac?
Yes im sure there are a ton of flomos who dont agree Pac is above Floyd. But any reasonable and unbias person does ie boxing fans rather than floyd fan.
At this pint in time, nobody knows who the fuck Bradley is and he hasn't accomplish enough to be a great. If Manny were to lose to Bradley, of course his legacy would take a hit.
Everyone agrees Pac is above FLoyd. So if you think Floyd is 30, Pac is considerabaly higher .
Some people think Pac is the GOAT, and some people think that the people who think Pac is the GOAT are overating Pac, thats opinions for you.
But ATGs of yesteryear who are mentioned in the same breath as Pac have lost to worse fighters than Bradley for sure.

A little perspective is needed for you??? I don't think his legacy would take a hit either, he's stll an ATG in my book. But Pac the GOAT??????? Get real man. Him and Floyd both are around the Top 30, not anywhere near the Top 10, yet.

Its his first time fighting an undefeated fighter since Jorge Solis.
First time fighting someone who isnt clearly on the downside of their career since Jorge Solis.
If he does bad the first time he gets tested by someone not on the downside then it confirms he was never really **** to begin with.
Pacs had a career and a half already. If he loses fights it will be this part of his career.
A win would be ideal, but if he were to lose it wont take away what hes done already. If people think Pac is the GOAT, and he loses to Bradley, people might think Pac is no3 instead of no1 of all time.
So a little perspective is needed.

a more accurate description would be his POPULARITY would take a hit.
a legacy is the sum of all your accomplishments. regardless of what happens with his fight with Bradley, most likely manny would still continue to fight. and even IF he would lose all his fights from this point on, it wouldn't change or tarnish his legacy.
an excellent example is muhammed ali and tyson. they lost badly on their last fights, yet they are considered to be among the best of all time.
I think the difference is that when Ali and Tyson were nearing the end of their careers, they were way past it. After the 3rd Frazier fight, Ali was past his prime-not even that good anymore. Manny is not prime, but he's still good.
Being on the decline won't hurt his legacy. But losing to Bradley,(or walking away with a win when everyone thinks he lost) won't hurt his legacy. It will simply make them realize that they overrated him far too much to begin with. Remember they once tried to say he was the best southpaw OAT
I specifically said decline instead of legacy for that reason - don't think it would really hurt his legacy that much. Think the Marquez bout has already done the damage of making people re-assess things. And yeah, I think we all overrated him.
It is. I wonder if he can get up for Bradley. Then again, he was way up for Marquez and got his ass handed to him.

Which is an extremely likely scenario. Not just physically, but mentally Pacquiao just doesn't seem to care anymore.

Back to back losses means he's seriously on the decline.

4Corners you are a really strong poster, and I enjoy how despite your being a Floyd fan you are very unbiased and realistic about Pac. You pose a tough question here. As many posters have said Pac's legacy as an ATG is without question secure, however if he does lose to Bradley after another very questionable decision against Marquez I do think it will somewhat change how people remember him. For me it won't really change how I think about him at all, I consider him a Top 30 ATG, one of the best 3 or 4 fighters I have seen in my lifetime, and a guy who simply is always going to struggle against a particular style of boxer. I think if Bradley can stay away from making it a firefight he could certainly give Pac some real problems, with that being said I still certainly expect Pac to win.
False. Real fans stick by their guy no matter what and legacy will remain intact BUT.....It will confirm what many people already think; Pac is good but not great unless they match him with not so good opposition.
Pac's legacy is set, it can only be improved. If he had never fought anyone as good as Bradley, that would be different, but he has.
Then again, I'm not one that thinks you can "lose" your legacy. Once you've accomplished something, outside of finding out later that you cheated like Margarito, there's nothing that can change what you've already done.
exactly..only thing imo that would tarnish a fighter's legacy is being caught for doing something illegal (i.e. mosley, margarito) or just doing something that is significantly frowned upon (i.e. duran quitting against leonard..but duran was able to make a comeback). all great fighters lose at some point or another. if anything, pac losing at this age and point in his career would probably suggest that he is possibly slipping in terms of being in prime.
