I can't think of any other cornerman who contributes so little in a fight. He just sits there holding the bucket and the water bottle. Ariza and Chavez Jr were giving all the instructions.
99% of the preparations are before the fight during training camp, so the fighters have their instructions and gameplan ready.
I think he's an average fair trainer, but I actually don't care for him. I remember when he was making his "deal" with Manny Pacquiao and how hard he pushed for his 10% it wasn't kosher. He was dealing with a very soft guy, with whom he had worked to impress, and who hadn't really come to terms with the value of the dollar, and how much he was making. For a big money fighter like Pacquiao, trainers have been paid anythingfrom 3-5%.
I think that Roach took mean advantage. Of course it's made his name, and also made him a multi-millionaire many times over, but still........

IDK about that at all. Im not with the crowd who disses Roach non stop now but I do think people give him way too much credit alot of times and he takes no heat for his fighters failures
totally agree with this... Roach has some real skills when it comes to creting offensive gameplans.... and knows how to find openings
But he seems to not even consider deffnce at all..which is worying
For me i think Nacho is the best in the game right now...
TBH even tho I really can't stand the guy, he is hands down the best trainer in boxing.
