RING No. 5-rated middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on the morning of Jan. 22 and charged with drunk driving, according to records obtained by ******.com and a spokesman at the holding facility.
Listed as 6-foot-1, 175 pounds at the time of his intake, Chavez, 25, was arrested at 4:38 a.m., booked at 7:19 in the Los Angeles County Jail, and released at 10:25 that morning, according to the operator at station No. 4 of the Los Angeles inmate reception center.
Chavez has a court hearing about the case on March 16 at the Los Angeles Municipal Court, according to the spokesman.
Chavez (44-0-1, 31 knockouts ) has Saturday night's HBO-televised defense of his WBC belt against Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5-1, 46 KOs).
Public relations director Lee Samuels of Top Rank Inc., Chavez's promoter, said he had no knowledge of the arrest.

that takes a toll on your body man..cutting weight isnt healthy at all
i did that shlt every week and it didn't affect me and they were same day weigh ins. if i had the opportunity to weigh in the night before it would be even easier.

I agree, and it also depends on the grade of dehydration. Once I was playing softball at 4:00 PM at around 110 Fahrenheit (yeah, that's crazy but where I live the average temperature in summer is around 95 Fahrenheit) and went home completely dehydrated. I drank Gatorade and water and everything until I was feeling "fine", but then I went to do the p90x and got tired in about half the time I use to get tired. I was just feeling like crap and it had an terrible effect in my performance of course.
it's pretty easy to lose 15 lbs in 12 days. When i wrestled in highschool i walked around at 165 and i wrestled at 152. I would practice on friday and after practice i would be 160. then i'd go home and run some more with a sweat suit and by saturday morning i'd weigh in 152 no problem. right after weigh in i'd rehydrate to 160 and i'd be wrestling in less than an hour later. it really didn't affect my performance.
so 15 lbs in 12 days isn't far-fetched considering a high schooler was losing 13 lbs in a night.
It is easy if you are disciplined and a hard worker who is right where they want to be in very good shape just cutting water weight.
A dude who has had consistent weight issues and who lacks a quality work ethic that is hell and it will lead them to be weaker.

It's weird that all these little facts about Chavez are coming up now.
Setting up some massive excuses perhaps?
Well remember Pavlik vs Hopkins ... After he lost then it turned out that Pavlik was "very ill" and was using antibiotics and that's one of the main reasons he lost the fight. I think his team wasn't taking into consideration the fact that he was completely dominated by Hopkins.
They could do a drinking contest or drinking games
Pavlik would drink him under the table then ride a 4 wheeler into a stop sign.....and run to the liquor store and hide
Well yeah, that's a lot of weight but most of it is water ... While playing a soccer match of two 30 minutes halves, I used to lost around 4 - 5 pounds of water but of course I was really weak after the match.
Now saying that, I still believe that 8 pounds is a lot of weight, especially since he was around 175 a few days before the fight, so it could have a detrimental effect on his stamina and his performance against Rubio. GO RUBIO!

I was also told yesterday by someone in Chavez camp he lost 8 pounds in last 2 days to make weight.

This is exactly why Chavez Jr. will never ammount to anything, no discipline. Such a waste because he does have some talent and fighters would kill to just be given the following he has.
He is and always will be a two-bit chump~
Dang... 175?
means nothing, he was obviously fairly well, ahem, 'hydrated' and was most likely fully clothed- police don't tend to do weigh ins like boxing commissions do...
