Based on many responses here, it seems that there are not just a few who are advocating for Pac and Floyd to move up to LMW.
Right away, in closer examination, one could see the absurdity of this proposal.
Forget Floyd for the moment and concentrate on Pac. According to the stats, Pac is 5'6" with a 67" reach. He was fighting at 112 lbs when he was 19 yrs. old. At 154, he will be facing the likes of D. Rodriguez, S. Dzinziruk, V. Martirosyan, etc. who are 6'0", 70"+ in reach and who started their careers at 140 or 147 lbs.. Some have even fought at MW. On fight night, these guys would be in the mid 160s or higher. Imagine a small guy who can barely make 147, getting hit with just one solid punch from a big hitter who outweighs him by 20/25 lbs.
Now, can anyone not see why Pac would not want to venture in 154 again? If he does try, he would be making the stupidest move of his career. He not only will be greatly risking his health, it could also end his political career.
Hes as small as Floyd. They're both exceptional so they could make it work at 154.
I agree even though both are very small for 154, they can make it work. Because, they're exceptional and because 154 right now are full of proven fighters who are on the way out or unproven fighters. There aren't any Hearns, Body Snatcher, or Terry Norris running around in that division. Hell there isn't even a Winky Wright or Trinidad.
Very mediocre weight-class. And, the ones that might be good are unproven.
From a fans perspective, all the fights are at 154.
Most of them yeah. The biggest is still at 147.
From a business perspective, all the fights are at cherry picking.
Oh i don't know about that. The two biggest are Martinez and Pac. Possibly with Canelo in third place.
I, personally, don't care for the latter. Let's take it back to the old school and fight the best available.
100% agree, I'm just being realistic. Floyd won't fight anyone not high profile.
We as the fans have took the fights boxing gave us for the last few years; I'm tired of it. The best should fight the best. There are plenty of fights for Pac and Mayweather outside of each other. Both should try to take over 154.
Oh i agree fully. But i don't care about either guy fighting at ANY weight if they will only take easy high profile fights. Both of them should fight eachother or Martinez.
Regarding Pac, I don't want to hear that "he's too small crap". That's BS.

Floyd can fight at 147 or 154. It's not like he's going to put on extra weight against Cotto at 154 or anything. He's probably going to weigh 150 on fight night like he did against Ortiz.
The other fights he should take at 154 after Cotto are Sergio Martinez and Saul Alvarez/James Kirkland. Alvarez and Kirkland depends entirely on what happens in the future. If Kirkland were to beat Angulo, Molina, Vanes, Alvarez, than I'd love to see him fight Mayweather. Same with Canelo. If he were to beat Vanes, Bundrage, and Kirkland, I'd like to see him fight Mayweather as well.
I think Floyd should stay at 154.
All the fights are there.
sure. But not a lot of them are feasible.
Martinez, Canelo sure. Those would be high profile and bring the money. Everyone else is just far removed from such a fight. Similarly i don't expect Floyd to fight Mike Jones or Sevchenko.
Good. You don't believe Floyd would make weight an issue next time around.
Just trying to get people's opinions here so we know where they stand if this becomes a problem later on.
When has Floyd ever made weight an issue?
it depends if he has any plans to fight martinez because for sure sergio will be calling out his a$$ non-stop after the cotto fight. floyd can not ignore martinez if he stays at 154...martinez's team will make sure floyd will look like he's ducking if he doesn't respond to the challenge. if he doesn't want to fight sergio, he'll most likely move down to 147.
go back to 147?
If he wins, will he now demand that Pac fight him at 154 or no fight?
100% agree floyd and manny will have to be 150 and above at least
Floyd can fight the winner of the small tourney that may happen between Ortiz-Berto vs Maidana-Alexander. Or he can just fight the winner of Maidana vs Alexander since we don't even know when is Berto-Ortiz being rescheduled to. But I rather him go for The Ring title at 154 vs Canelo and 155+ vs Martinez Ringg belt. In terms of legacy, unlike other people who think so highly of Pac, I see nothing at 147 for Floyd after Cotto.
Maidana vs Alexander is not a suitable eliminator for a Floyd fight. Maybe if Maidana wins, but Alexander? No thank you.
Floyd vs Ortiz 2 is about as pointless as it can get. Berto if he beats Ortiz is ok.
Don't know what to say about your last comment. In terms of legacy it is undisputed that a Pac win would be by far the greatest accomplishment in Floyds career. Pac is by far the ATG highest rated fighter he would've ever fought.
floyd weighs 150 on fight night. I doubt he would force anyone to move from 147 to 154.
He could stay at 154 if theres where the fights are. I guess if he can't fight Pac next it is. Martinez and Canelo are both 154-fights. Only fight at 147 unless Bradley beats Pac or Khan mounts a comeback is Pac.
Hes a small 147 though. He won't fight at 154 unless there's a good reason for it.

I, And a lot of other people, are tired of this fight to the part where we genuinely don't care any more. Two years ago you see people saying they don't care about the fight any more, frustrated. But then the same people would get all hyped when talks started again and again. But this was the last straw. Now next I want Mayweather vs Canelo and Martinez at 154. And I want Bradley vs Pacquiao, and Pacquiao vs the enxt best WW in Top Rank. My wishes are realistic, I'm taking in to account that you have be in TR/"free agent" in order to fight Pac, as proven by his last 5 fights.

Btw, was there a fightnight weigh-in for the Floyd/Ortiz fight? Floyd was 150?
Not aware of it, so please provide link.
its at the beginning of the fight when they announce vic was 164 remember
hes gonna stay at 154 and try to get Pac to move up because he knows Pac dont wanna move up. Between a ridiculous money split and a weight issue he knows the fight will never happen. So yeah he will stay for another reason not to fight.
Or he will retire because he running out of old washed up past prime fighters to fight.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!...I get what u were trying to say...u was trying to indirectly clown pacman and floyd both....but man, Im cool with this cotto fight and excited as hell..Floyd hasnt fought a boxer in a long time so I dissagree on that one
theres really nothing at 147 for him but pac. so if that aint happening, he could solidify his legacy by making a run at 154, yes.
So much talent there, Floyd should do a presser after the pac fight, saying he will officially fight at that class and vacate his wbc belt in order to be a full time 54lb...it will add some excitement to boxing, and all the attention would shift from the ww devision to the jm divison

slurp job:bottle: I think you know deep down floyd will beat pac that's why you don't want that fight lmao
No, not an official weigh-in, but he climbed on HBO's scales (something he usually doesn't do). Ortiz did too. 150 vs. 164. That was pretty hard to miss, it provoked a lot of discussion. dispelled all those nutty myths that he balloons up on fight night. Just google for it.
Thanks. Will do.
