i didn't know malignaggi refused the fight in ukraine.. must have missed the news. well somebody will have to pack up and travel there eventually to get a shot at the title. because brook doesn't want to go there either. that's why he's fighting hatton and not senchenko.
i don't really get it though what's the big deal? hometown cooking is everywhere and UK boxing is the worst example... ukrainean boxing events have been on a pretty decent level.
we can comment on it, but in reality
it will be tough for brook to get a meaningful fight in the US. just like zaveck, kotelnik, and even to some extent amir khan... brook is dangerous and neither HBO nor US promoters will easily give in, unless he can somehow get into a clear position for a title shot or vacant title fight.
i think mike jones is a possibility, since he's been really adamant to capture the IBF ww title (berto's vacant title as of dec. 2011) where brook is highly ranked as well.
but brook needs to step up soon. jackiewicz, galarza and hatton are not world class fighters (at least not anymore). these are all boxers with soft touches, easily dominated by a fast and powerful brook. i wanna see his chin checked against a threat.... i just hope his title fight won't end up being against the winner of malignaggi-senchenko.
edit: now that i think about it not really since brook wants to fight only in his home town, and senchenko seems to have strong enough financial support to keep it in ukraine. they even beat gbp in a purse bid. same with malignaggi.
Yeah, isn't Senchenko-Malignaggi not happening because Paulie didn't want to travel to Europe???
If that's the case, I'd like to see Guerrero-Malignaggi, Ortiz-Khan, Brook-Senchenko, Alexander/Maidana-Berto, and Solomon-Jones.
Those all would be great fights. Solomon needs to step up and get active as well, and after Jones beats Bailey, he needs to step up.
The funny thing is that all of these guys could step up and just fight each other, and they'd get way more respect. Khan shouldn't fight Mosley, go straight for Victor Ortiz to make a name at 147. Guerrero is coming off surgery but if he's serious about jumping straight to 147, than fight Pauli Malignaggi in May on the Floyd undercard or something. It's a decent first opponent jumping from 135-147. And since Berto-Ortiz II is off, Andre should fight the Alexander-Maidana winner in June or July once he's recovered. And Brook can step up and fight Senchenko over in Europe to capture a title, than pursure bouts in America. And Solomon and Jones can step up and fight each other.
It's like these guys just want to get protected and protected, than hope they get big fights with Floyd or Manny or some s**t. Ortiz had to jump to 147 and beat Berto convincingly, and than he got the Floyd fight.
I think Kell Brook has the tools to be a really good Welterweight and obviously I am a Kell fan, but he needs to step up after Hatton.
He should pursure bouts with Senchenko, Aydin, Solomon, or Jones for June or July. Any of those would be good step ups.
I know we've only seen Kell against pretty weak opponents, but if he translates well against solid opposition, I think he beats Berto and possibly Ortiz as well.we can comment on it, but in reality

how long until brook fights a live opponent? hatton is just a filler... he'll make brook look good because he's pretty tough, but the ref's going to stop it i'm sure.
the fight will be at welterweight(147lbs).
Brook said it suits him perfectly to fight in UK this time. But I can't wait to see Kell with some big name.

Welterweight 147 lbs - if the free tickets is for real. Doubt somehow it is though.
Looking forward to this scrap, it should indicate just how much potential Kell has.
Brook will end up being far better than Khan. However Matt Hatton as a step up says a lot. The kid needs to leave the kiddy playground & start hunting big game.
