Diaz was a stiff bro, when a fighter has elite physical tools like Manny, fighting stiffs will give you the ability to out-box and the impression that you're a boxer.
When you are the P4P champ most everyone looks like a stiff in there with you. this comment goes for both Floyd and Manny. When you are just that much better then everyone else there really is no competition alla Roy Jones in the 90's.
Wow a David Diaz reference to prove Manny can box? I can definitely see this fight as a boxer vs boxer fight...fought in the middle of the ring with hand speed and movement favoring Mayweather. I see the results being similar to the Floyd-Gatti fight...too many clean blows to the head by Floyd and the ref stops it late.
yes this is what would happen if Floyd fought Diaz. Look what happened when Manny fought Hatton he KO'd him much faster then Floyd did. Anyone who holds a title and laces up the gloves is NOT a bum. Diaz was not a bum. he was not P4P but it was Manny's first fight above 130lbs and the first time I really noticed an improvement in his skills. Isnce then everyhting has gotten beter and against better competition....LEFTY

I think we would have seen that Floyd against Ortiz. He was walking Ortiz down counter punching and throwing 4-5 punch combos. That is the reason I was so upset with the outcome of that bout. I think this 34 year old version of Floyd will open up more offensively and throwing first not just counter punching.\
Manny boxed Diaz's ears off.....What is out boxing someone hmmm lets see....
being first or beating the other guy too the punch, landing sharp clean effective punches, counter punching effectively, using the ring and cutting it off, good foot movement and landing the harder shots. Yep he outboxed the crap out of him....LEFTY

hahahaha you are going to use that D level fighter as an example??? :haha:
I used that as example because prior to that fight I thought Manny was a one handed fighter, who left himself out of position and off balance too often. I think he has out boxed everyone he faced since then. He out boxed Cotto who is a A Level fighter and a pretty good boxer no?
wanna bet? watch the link below
One reason why is..... because there's gonna be a 9lbs. difference in Cotto.
No weight drained fighters.
No dumb a$$ catchweight...:boxing:
I disagree strongly my friend. Did you see Manny against David Diaz @ 135lbs? Manny showed off his boxing skills against a Champion was a very tough and world class skills. Manny made it look so easy with his two handed boxing skills hooking off his jab landing the patent 1-2 jab straight left hand, digging to the body. For you too say Manny cannot out box anyone is insane.
As for Floyd not brawling well then you obviously have not seen Floyd at 130-135lbs or you have never seen Floyd vs Diego Corrales. Floyd can open up and brawl if he chooses too. People do not realize that the main plan in the game of boxing is too NOT get hit. Floyd is the master of that. He can brawl though and prior to his hands getting injured he had a supreme KO %. Below 140lbs Floyd is 31-0 with 22 KO's.

I've seen all of Floyd and Manny's fights. Floyd did slug it out in some of his earlier bouts but that was a long time ago. I'm mostly referring to this version of Floyd. Out-brawling and opponent isn't plan A and specialty not at these higher weights. At this point in Floyd's career trying to out brawl an opponent wouldn't be wise unless absolutely necessary.
In regards to Manny, I've always seen him as guy with great physical tools. Just because he was able to beat Diaz to the punch and was stronger doesn't necessarily mean he out-boxed him.

he did counter over oscars jab. smh...
and oscars jab did land...and was effective.
Like i said, mayweather will counter it at times, doesnt mean cottos jab wont be effective.
Floyd is going to counter over the jab and stop cotto from throwing then what does cotto have left?
mmmmmm the left hook too the body??? Ortiz was trying to get at Floyd body and it did not look like Floyd appreciated that too much. Cotto has a good chin ask Judah if you don't believe me. Better yet it took Tony 11 rounds with cement in his gloves to TKO Cotto. he stood in there with Manny for 11 rounds after losing his father not too long before that fight. Manny hits hard just ask Sugar Shane hell tell you he is the hardest puncher he ever faced. Cotto has been by some of the hardest punchers at 147-154lbs....LEFTY
This fight will be Oscar vs Floyd all over again, which was somewhat competitive for Floyd.
Both Cotto and Oscar are orthodox boxers that are left-hand dominant and on the downturn of their careers when Floyd got them.
Just like he countered over oscars jab? He aint getting any faster dude...
Will he effectively be able to counter sometimes...sure. Will a good majority of cottos jab be effective, yes.

whats your point? they're two different fighters with two different styles. Manny will never outbox anyone and Floyd will never out brawl anyone. Learn the game son, stay in school.

I think both fighters are gonna have their moments. Floyd is obviously gonna do his thing, but i doubt that it is enough to stop cotto. We are either gonna witness floyds greatness, or cotto is gonna surprise alot of people with how much he has left in his tank. I think cotto's jab is gonna be the x factor.
Its gonna be especially interesting to see if floyd try's to stand in front of cotto an try to walk him down.

Two different style match ups. I don't think Cotto gets knocked down or TKO'd, but would I be surprised if Floyd's puts on a Boxing clinic for 12 rounds? Not at all. With that being said though, Cotto win or lose is going to be a tougher fight than most are expecting.

Floyd can never do this to Cotto | BoxingScene Community
