In light of the recent injury to Berto and Ortiz actions in the fight against Floyd, I have been contemplating on whether or not this guy is actually as dumb as he appears too be on camera.
Okay that is enough about his character & smarts or maybe lack there of smarts.
Now that the fight I was drooling too see is not going to happen next week what match ups do you see as a good possibility for Ortiz in the very near future?

He's very much like Judah in that he is so talented that people are going to jump on every glimpse of potential he shows and overrate Ortiz. You can see it already, much the same way fans have always said "if Judah's mentally right he will win" against anyone, they say that now with Ortiz. "If the Ortiz from the Berto fight shows up..."
NEWSFLASH: There is no difference between the Ortiz that beat Berto and the Ortiz that lost to Maidana and Mayweather are no different. The only difference was the opponent, not Ortiz. Yet people will, for the rest of Ortiz's career, say "if Ortiz's head is right, if the Ortiz from the Berto fight shows up," no matter who he fights.
Watch, if he gets a Mayweather rematch there will be a vocal minority that says, "He wont' be intimidated this time, he will be young and strong and the guy from the Berto fight will show up this time."
No way...
Ortiz that fought Berto was a completely different fighter than the one against Maidana. He quit vs Maidana, he was hit harder vs Berto, knocked down and got up to win that fight.
That was a pivotal moment for Ortiz IMO but you are right about the mentality of the two.
I just think Judah is full of sh1t where as at least Ortiz is honest in saying he didn't deserve to be hit the way he was.
i seen ortiz get hit by bigger wider haymakers than anyone who should claim to be a professional should ever get hit by....then the nate campbell but dumber fiasco vs floyd...
berto's first kd of ortiz came from katmandu, i had time to go get a beer from when he started the punch and I was back in time to see ortiz hit the ground
Rofl hahaha

LMFAO!!!!!! Maidana throws hooks from hell but they take about 20-25 minutes to get half way passed his shoulder.....LEFTY

He's a pro boxer who comes from Kansas and is the son of Mexican immigrants. he doesn't have extensive schooling, what do you expect from the guy?
You want him to be a genius?
I think Ortiz is an incredibly physically gifted kid but I don't think boxing is #1 in his life. I think he's a nice guy and "Vicious" is the wrong nickname for him. He should be nicknamed "nice guy" or something like that.
I think he would much rather be surfing on some beach with his friends instead of in a boxing ring but that's just my opinion.
I like the kid, think he came up in a tough family life and is using boxing to make ends meet.\
good assessment very good post. Karma granted my friend thank you for posting in my thread....LEFTY

This is a very good assessment I think, really good post. And although I'm not really a fan of Ortiz but he did have a rough life I'll give him that.
He's nothing like Judah. Judah is a hypocrite, liar and was born with all the talent in the world but never worked hard a day in his life.
Judah is the biggest waste of talent in the history of the sport.
Ortiz works hard, I just don't think his mind is in it. His number 1 goal isn't boxing, it's to be on some beach somewhere. He reminds me of Ricky Williams in his mentality.

Not much to be made of him.Everybody kidna knows what to get from.
He's not the brightest guy in boxing to put it in a nice way but I don't really care about that.
He's a good entertaining fighter but his mental state is all over the place.
1. Your grammar sucks. I'm only pointing it out because you seem to suggest that you are smarter than Victor Ortiz. Based on your grammar, that does not seem to be the case.
2. You are equating bad behavior with "lack there of smarts".
Osama bin Laden, Hitler, Julius Caesar, etc. etc. etc. are men of superior intellect who all did terrible things.
DUHHHHHHH.
My friend I didn't know my 11th grade english teacher was grading my posts. As for being smarter then Victor Ortiz I never said he was dumb. Ignorant, not too bright maybe but not dumb. Well when you get winged by Oscar and then after your first beating you say you don't need to be taking this kind of punishment etc...then you get another big fight with Mayweather and blow your chances by lunging forward and trying to headbutt a sports ICON well now that is two strikes against you right. Are these actions the signs of a SMART PERSON? Oh the third strike for me was the interview post fight with Floyd....yes he is f - - king dumb....There now I decided for myself.....no go grade some papers.....LEFTY
Ortiz is a strong / solid fighter, physically. Mentally though, he's all types of f*cked up.
He quit against Maidana. Looked like a straight BEAST against Berto. Turned retarded against Mayweather.
He's unpredictable. I'll give him that.
I agree with you my friend. I like Ortiz in the ring the guy I saw in the first few rounds against Maidana and the guy who was taking it too Floyd. the guy who went beast mode on Berto yes this is the guy I like too see. Not the lunging head butt freak who needs to think a little more before he speaks.....LEFTY
Ortiz is the new Zab Judah. He will never be as good as everyone will always convince themselves he will be.
Yet for the rest of his career, people will always buy into him, like they did Judah.

I'd like to see hiom fight mike jones.
everyone is looking for soime huge fights for him. HE AINT ALL THAT.
Mike Jones would be a great fight with victor
The guy seems thick as pig s££t but what can you do.
As for opponent, I would like to see him against Khan at some stage but other than that I'm not sure.
There's no doubt once Berto is recovered the rematch has to happen though.
Agreed he and Khan need to make that happen. I think it will answer a lot of questions for both fighters. As for a Berto rematch to me this depends on where and when now that Berto has too pull out of this fight due to an injury? Much like when he pulled out of the fight with Mosley due to the earth quake and then Mosley got the big fight with Floyd right? Maybe his injury heels and Ortiz is not available and Al Hamon makes Berto available for the Mayweather sweep stakes right? ....LEFTY
