What is so hard to understand that Floyd is his own boss? Haymon, GBP, Ellerbe, work for him, not the other way around. They don't tell when or who to fight. He tells them when he wants to fight, who he wants to fight, and they make the fight happen. Of course he pays them for their services, they get a cut out of out of his own money. I don't know why's that so hard to understand, I never even looked anything up, it's just common sense after a while. Golden Boy promotions is needed because Mayweather promotions cant put on a big event nor do they have the assets to do so. Mayweather Promotions isnt really a legit company, I dont even know if it has a phone line and Id imagine that it is compiled of 2 at home employees. Think of it as only a working relationship, no contracts but GBP still has to get paid. But Mayweather is pretty much the only boxer that has the upper hand in his working relationship with a promote and it looks like Cotto is trying to do the same. Mayweather has GBP allow him to slap his Mayweather promotions label all over the place over GBP's. And the cut that he gives them is definitely much smaller than if he was signed with some one, Pacquiao is handing alot more money to Top Rank than Mayweather is to GBP.

Because, I don't think Mayweather promotions was a license promotions. I was under the impression that Mayweather promotions used Golden Boy license to make the event. And, in return Mayweather just pays them a flat fee. But, Mayweather promotions handled all the risk by paying all the fighters. I might be wrong though. However, I don't know why Golden boy would be needed for a Pac fight or the Cotto fight for that matter.
