Sergio already said he's out of the running because of Macklin in March, which is the fight obviously most would want to see besides Manny.
So, if there is no Mayweather-Pacquiao, who do you want to see Floyd fight???
This is the party line. It was all Mayweather. Some of Floyd's fans challenge punch stats in Pacs fights and I would also challenge some of these stats. Some of Floyd's punches weren't landing, I don't think. I've watched the fight about 10 times and I felt the first round was close, the second I thought Ortiz won. Floyd was picking up the pace, but Ortiz is a slow starter and he was getting in the body better than I think Floyd liked. The pace was good for Ortiz. Traditionally Floyd has gone on to dominate guys like Judah and Mosley as the fight progressed, but Ortiz had that 10-year age advantage and it might not have gone that same way this time.
It was not a mismatch from my perspective. It was just getting good. We will never know for sure, but I would have liked to found out what would have happened.
I can agree with most everything you said. Ortiz is certainly better than Floyd haters give him credit for.
The first, neither guy did much, but Ortiz really did nothing. Mayweather's 4-5 right hands won him that round. The 2nd was close. Ortiz got him on the ropes a few times but didn't land too much of anything significant. The most significant punches Ortiz landed were in the 4th. Mayweather hit Ortiz with a quick right cross at the end of the round, which I thought punctuated the round though. The 3rd, Mayweather was getting to Ortiz pretty good. He pretty much dominated that round. The 4th, Ortiz didn't really do anything the first minute, as Floyd racked up the punch stats, even hit Ortiz with a combo in the opening seconds, that sort of stunned Ortiz slightly. Floyd missed a right and Ortiz got him with a couple good punches, but didn't hurt him either. Floyd continued to hit him with jabs and right hands, until Ortiz' flurry where he landed 2, maybe 3, clean punches. The 4th was still a Floyd round. I don't see how anyone could have scored a round for the guy that landed 9 punches, where he opponent landed 22.
Victor had brief moments in the 2nd, and a couple moments in the 4th, but people tend to overreact when Floyd is on the ropes. They think if he's on the ropes for 10-15 seconds a round that he lost the round, even though his opponent only landed 2-3 punches at a time when he was throwing flurries. Where as, the other 2:45 seconds of the round, Floyd is hitting his opponent often and almost at will.
Aside from about a grand total of 30-40 seconds in that fight and 2 moments in the 4th, it was all Mayweather. And given Floyd's history, he picks up the pace after the first couple rounds, as he did against Ortiz.
The first 2 rounds of Mayweather-Ortiz: Floyd landed 24 unches to 13 for Ortiz.
The last 2 rounds of Mayweather-Ortiz: Floyd landed 59 punches to 13 for Ortiz.
Floyd doesn't move around or jump in and out the way he used to, he's 34 years old, about to be 35. He's still really good though, and is quick enough to fight with just about anyone, and is still firing punches with pin point accuracy. The only reason his accuracy was down to 35% against Ortiz in those 4 rounds was because he jabbed more, and used his jab as a range finder against Victor. His power punches were still a crazy 49% accuracy. Floyd was even out working Victor, throwing over 50 something more punches in those 4 rounds. He was about the same as he was against Mosley, only facing a young fighter with an explosive offensive attack, who fires his punches with decent speed.
I want to see Mayweather-Alvarez at some point, but after Canelo beats someone like Kirkland, Lara, or Cotto first. If Floyd fights him now, he gets no immediate credit. The only way he gets credit for beating Canelo now is if Canelo goes on to be a 3 or 4 division champion and a great fighter. If he fights Alvarez once he beats someone like Kirkland, Cotto, or Lara, he'll get some immediate credit for doing so.

I dont care if Canelo hasnt faced enough top flight competition yet. I think he has more potential of challenging Floyd than Cotto.
Cotto beating Mayorga and Margrito doesnt impress me. He did well, but i think Cotto is just too vunerable as a fighter at this stage.
I don't agree with a lot of the negativity about a fight with Canelo Alvarez. I think he is the top young gun out there. I would get excited about that fight. I don't think Mayweather dominates that one. I would like to finally see Cotto fight Mayweather also. He seemed to resurrect some of his old abilities against Margarito.
As far as Mayweather goes, I don't care how "God-gifted" talented or whatever term you use about a fighter. He can't just sit around and get old and still be the best. He is not active enough. I don't think he was dominating Ortiz that way some people portrayed. If Mayweather doesn't get him out, the way he did, it might have gotten hot for him in the middle or later rounds.

Got it. Now back to the topic at hand.
I want to get your explaination on this.
How is Cotto a B+ fight at 154, and Canelo a C+ at 154?
IMO.
Canelo is faster, stronger, bigger, and fresher than Cotto. I just cant imagine Cotto being a better fight than Canelo for Floyd? I just dont see it.
Now there are many reasons why i dont want to see Floyd/Canelo, mainly because he doesnt deserve the fight (cherry picker), i dont like him, and hes better off fighting Kirkland, Lara, etc. But as far as potential for a competitive fight, i got him ahead of Cotto. As long as Canelo stop gassing out he got a respectable chance imo.
Now i like Cotto as a fighter, but i see nothing about him that can bother Floyd, Canelo on the other hand got a punchers chance.
Cotto is like a B- at 154, and Canelo's a B.
Canelo may be younger and fresher, but he hasn't really done enough in boxing at all to get a Floyd fight. I agree, he should fight Kirkland, Lara, Cotto himself, or Trout first.
Yes, Cotto's best win at 154 is Foreman, which is decent, but he's still a more respectable fight than Canelo right now. Floyd gets some credit for beating Cotto at 154, where as he'd get NONE for fighting Canelo right now.
I don't even know if I'd pick Canelo to beat Cotto right now. It'd be close, and that's the fight I'd most want to see for the Spring, besides Mayweather-Pacquiao obviously.
Whatever the case may be, Canelo or Cotto at 154 is a superior choice of opposition than Pac fighting Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, and Marquez when he did.
If Mayweather-Pacquiao is off, I'd like to see Paacquiao fight Bradley, but I can't see that happening right now.
Miguel Angel Cotto and have Pac beat the shyit out of Bradley.
Would be nice to see Pac fight Bradley but Arum won't do it now. If he does, kudos to them. Based on recent history...yeah right.
True. The only other people he's really shown to have interest in fighting is Marquez and Cotto.
I really don't think Cotto has a chance at 147. Maybe a bit of a chance at 150, and some sort of a chance at 154.
For Floyd and Manny:
Cotto at 154: B+
Cotto at 150: C+/ B- at the highest
Cotto at 147: C-
Cotto is pretty much the same guy he was in NOV 09' when he fought Pac, only at SWW now. He's past his prime-still good. If Floyd fights Cotto, I see like how I see Floyd and Manny fighting Hatton. Floyd gets more props because he did it first, but Manny still gets his due for that win. It'll be the same with Cotto, only vice-versa obviously.
I just didn't like you saying I was relieved, because I am not. And I really wasn't feeling the "Pacfan" guy talking his usual s**t, because its played out, and moronic to be honest.
But I can usually feel what you're saying, and you and I agree on a ton of crap. And you give Manny crap, and Floyd crap, and you give them both props. I just hate the all day and all night bias s**t some of these people post on here bashing one guy or the other.

Where you see that he isnt interested in fighting Bradley? Hes shown that same level of interest as Peterson.
Also as much as i DO NOT want to see Cotto/Pacquiao. i have this feeling Cotto may pull off a win, or a very close competitive fight.

Idol??? Nope. I like Floyd as a boxer, my favorite right now.
But, I would like to see Mayweather-Martinez, not at 150. Floyd gets zero credit there. But what can't you understand about Floyd and Manny, Wleterweights, have no obligation to fight Sergio, a Middleweight???
I actually like Manny too, I am a fan of boxing. If Manny isn't on my favorite fighter list, than doesn't mean I dislike him. I root for boxing, I don't blindly bash certain guys all day and all night on here, like you do with Floyd. At the end of the day, it's Manny and Floyd, not some moron with a keyboard, fighting in the ring and doing THEIR JOB.
I want Mayweather-Pacquiao as much as anyone else, and Floyd should do 50/50. But, it's funny that you Floyd haters forget that Bob and Manny are still saying it has to be on May 26th or June 9th, regardless if Floyd agreed to 50/50. If Floyd should have to move from Cinco De Mayo, than No, I wouldn't agree to 50/50 either. I want that fight as much as anyone, and I don't blindy hate either guy on this board, like you.
And if the fight isn't made for May 5th, I really hope it is for November or December. And if Mayweather-Cotto at 154 is made, than I will laugh and it will be a big f**k you to Bob Arum, because Manny will be left with Marquez, Peterson, and Bradley (who he has shown zero interest in fighting). So, that basically leaves Marquez and Peterson, if he doesn't fight Bradley. There is NO DEFENSE on those opponents.
Where you see that he isnt interested in fighting Bradley? Hes shown that same level of interest as Peterson.

yep. the same ts who pretented he wanted marinez for his idol. floyd protectors are really no different.

you sound relieved
Naw man. I have said from day one that Manny and Floyd have ZERO OBLIGATION to fight Sergio. He's still a Middleweight and they are still Welterweights. I'd LOVE to see Floyd fight Sergio, not at 150 lbs though. At least at 152-153, hopefully 154. I doubt it happens though.
nobody phuck him let him go do his time and thats coming from a real mayweather fan im tired of this B.S
agree they should extend his jail sentence for this bullcrap
Sergio already said he's out of the running because of Macklin in March, which is the fight obviously most would want to see besides Manny.
