How is Nonito oging to hit Rigo?????? Yes, Nonito is fast, but Rigo is his equal in speed. If Nonito pressures him, Rigo has the hand speed and foot speed to counter him and move out of harms way just like that. And if Nontio tries to box him, it will be a semi-boring one-sided affair with Rigo winning most all the rounds. Nontio can't out-box Rigo, NO WAY NO HOW.
Yes, Nonito is a great fighter, but Rigo is his equal in terms of ability, and I really can't see Donaire beating him.
Rigondeaux vs. Ramos in JAN 2012
Donaire vs. Vasquez Jr. in FEB 2012
Rigondeaux vs. Nishioka in JUNE 2012
Donaire vs. Arce in MAY 2012
Rigondeaux vs. Donaire in OCT 2012.
Bring on Nonito.
Donaire will destroy Rigo at this point!
Donaire couldn't destroy Navarra, I doubt he destroys Rigo. I would like to see the fight but, it probably won't be a foty candidate.
doesnt look like he is though he is the one that wants donaire while donaire says no thank you
Donaire never said 'no thank you'. He is giving his respect to WV2 like any professional athlete should by just focusing on him. Trust me, Donaire ain't afraid of Rigondeaux and vice versa. If this fight doesn't happen its because of Arum.
As for who would win? I think Donaire would win. Donaire has the experience in the pro game. He has the height, the reach and the the power edge over Guillermo. And he matches him in speed/quickness.
Rigondeaux is a better defensive/counter puncher and Donaire is a better offensive boxer but isnt a slouch himself in terms of defense/counter punching.
Don't get me wrong, but Rico Ramos was waaay in over his head. Rigondeaux does have underrated power but Rico seemed like he just quit. He mentally wasn't the same after the first round and fought like a defeated man.
Ramos himself is overhyped. He hasn't fought anyone good except for Shimoda who he lost EVERY round before landing that KO shot. Anyone who thought Ramos had a shot at Rigondeaux are crazy!
I love the people saying Rigo didn't hardly throw anything against Ramos and all that crap. Well, Rico tried to get to Rigo the first round, got caught in an exchange badly, and than never tried to do anything AT ALL. How much can you throw when your opponent is doing NOTHING. Rigo could have and should have knocked Ramos out in the 2nd.
Nonito is good, but he seems to be slightly overrated and some people seem to underrate Rigo a bit on here. Nonito couldn't even break through against a tiny Narvaez, who wouldn't and couldn't throw anything back at all. I have to laugh at the people saying Donaire-Rigo would be like Donaire-Narvaez. Rigo can counter as good as anyone, matches Donaire in speed, has solid defense, and proved he can punch as well.
I will bet my life that Rigo-Donaire won't get made and Nonito won't go out of his way to make it happen either.
If Donaire beats Vazquez Jr I don't think Top Rank will do Rigondeaux vs Donaire they will let it build or have Rigondeaux move up to 126 .But they will not match those two guys right now kinda like GBP won't match Moreno vs Mares . I think Rigondeaux beats Donaire and I think Moreno out boxes Mares you got boring fighters beating the exciting fighters which makes promotors lose money because the exciting fighters is where the money is.
I don't think the importance of pro fights is overrated; I think that many people underrate a high number of amateur fights. Rigondeaux has something like 400 amateur wins and about a dozen losses. That's a lot of fighting experience. Not to mention, Guillermo has won two Olympic golds and been amateur world champion.
A successful amateur career is no guarantee of professional success, but it's a good indicator. Traditionally, the winner of Olympic gold has been seen as a favorite to win a pro title. Guys like Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Leonard, etc. were not only Olympic champions, but professional ATGs. There's a definite link
but people are looking at beating an aged darchiniyan and a tiny montiel as if donaire has fought the best fighters to see a ring. Donaire is exciting and he knocks people out at a low weight, so he's likable. I like him. But fighting a stiff is fighting a stiff and I think that due to popularity and a high ranking people are viewing all donaire's future comp as inferior. Problem is moving up has its own challenges, but  the fight won't happen anyway.
I'm quite aware. And, as I made clear in my earlier post, I'm keenly aware of their value. But 400 (or a million) amateur fights don't necessarily make you ready for a guy many consider the #4 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Because Rigo was clearly superior to Ramos doesn't mean anything with regards to Donaire. Nonito happens to be clearly superior to Rico as well.
Well said, The fight would happen (If Arum isnt Around anymore) but it would be better for Rigo if this fight happens a bit later, Am not actually underestimating Rigo or anything but for him to a better chance at Nonito i think he should take another one or two fight.
Mares should get Donaire. Rigondeaux should take on Nishioka.
I would love Rigo versus Nishioka! He's solid, and someone Rigo can handle...great preparation for Donaire.
Why?
he just made Ramos look like a bum (I hate to use that word for any boxer, but it's true)
Are you aware of Rigo's 400 amateur fights?

people overrate the importance of professional fights. Before the fight tarver said he would have to be prepared for a seasoned professional, and it was a blowout, exactly the opposite. The bigger factor I think will be rigo has been at 122 for what at least 8 years now? While nonito has not only never been 122 but has been fighting small 118 pounders. Rigo got noticeably bigger this fight and came in under the limit, flash certainly doesn't want any part of this guy. Not because he's scared but because he is a bona fide risk that generates no money. I think he'd rather move up and fight lopez or gamboa before he would fight rigo. Smart move calling him out though, after he destroys the next fighter he should do it again and repeat til he gets the fight.

I agree...at least. It's crazy that Rigo might actually be ready for perhaps the #4 P4P guy in the world after only a dozen or so professional fights! SMH

Rigo still need another one or two fights before I think he should go up against Nonito.
