Make it happen. Nonito seems to have chosen his path through 122 as Vazquez Jr. then Jorge Arce but he can't claim sh!t at the weight if he doesn't take on El Chacal.
Let's hope we don't get the usual treatment from TR with this one.
i also agree that there is a huge noticeable difference between montiel and any top 126 fighter. Even Rigo looks much more muscular than anyone donaire has fought to this point. For all the talk about pro experience rigo is 30, been fighting since teens, undefeated since 2003 and 400+ amateur fights. It would be diff if nonaire beat the best talent to grace the earth but he has lets say 4 top tier fights All where he's bigger man. This would be ew territory for him as well.
I don't know how we're gonna do it but we need to get these promoters to start making the fights the sport needs. This is on a long list of fights that should happen and it'll be ignored bc Arum wants to keep the Pinoy population interested after Manny leaves.
I doubt Nonito will grasp half of them anyway. Had he done it the right way, Donaire would've been on the undercard of every Pacquiao fight to get his hype going early. He's old for the lower weight classes and TR would be foolish to try to duplicate what they did with Pac.
Honestly ive seen Gamboa get dropped never hurt tho but gone down non the less for hes amateurish crap, but Riggo looks like he was born a Pro Maybe needs a bit more confidence and be less overzealous but as soon as you give him any indication of weakness he eats you alive he just hammerfisted Ramos with lefts as soon as he smelled hes ***** on hes period blood o.o i think a lot of people under estimate hes power.
He could have stopped Ramos a lot earlier than he did.

No, he doesn't. They built up Donaire by pitting him against guys who aren't nearly as athletic as he is on top of the fact he was a giant compared to them. The punches he walked through at '18 won't fly at '22 and '26 against guys that are as quick with pop in their punch (rigo, Gamboa, Russell, JuanMa). Don't get me wrong, Donaire is fun to watch, but when he gets in their with an athletic technician, he's getting devoured.
I understand if you want to say Donaire cant beat Rigondeaux/JuanMa/Gamboa because they are all top notch fighters. But dont throw Gary Russell in that category... Yet at least. Donaire would end his career if they fought in the next year or so.
Donaire walked through guys at 118 and 115 because he was a giant compared to them so now he will be fighting guys his size. JuanMa and Gamboa have already been dropped by guys who dont have the power Nonito. Those guys have a chance at beating Donaire but believe me none of them will "devour" him.

I agree completely. I respect Donaire a lot but I think Rigo is a level higher. Donaire's defense is a little suspect and it wouldn't surprise him if Rigo actually got the kayo with his signature body uppercut.
This would be an interesting fight if Rigondeaux had turned pro a few years earlier. You never know though seeing as Rigondeaux isn't getting any younger and his career is getting pushed forward rather quickly
Never happen, but somebody should put together another tourney.
All these guys are around 5' 5" so I gotta' think they could find a common weight:
Guillermo Rigondeaux
Gary Russell Jr.
Yuriokis Gamboa
Abner Mares
Nonito Donaire
:boxing:
It wouldn't be an easy fight but I think Donaire beats Rigondeaux. He's just as fast, taller, longer reach, and has heavier hands. They both move there feet very well though. I personally think Nonito would beat JuanMa, Gamboa and Rigondeaux.
Did Donaire make you pregnant?
How is it wishful thinking. JuanMa and Gamboa have already been dropped aren't exactly the best defensive boxers. Out of the three Rigondeaux gives Donaire the biggest challenge. Donaire is taller and has a reach advantage on all 3.
Styles makes fights and Donaire has it to defeat all 3.

I don't think Rigo can beat Donaire YET. He only has what, 9 fights? Still needs more tough opponents if he wants to get a shot against Donaire or anyone else high in the division.

I would love to see that fight this year. If he gets past Rigo, then maybe a fight with Gamboa next year. Should be enough time to move up in weight.

Rigo is in a messed up situation imo...turned pro at age 29....the fact he has fought just 9 fights and he's ALREADY 31...is crazy!!!....I mean, dude can fight, but Donaire is on another planet man.....Gamboa is about the only dude in the lower weights thats gonna trouble Flash imo
