I am happy for Guerrero if he gets the chance to fight Floyd. He's lobbied HARD for this one, would present more challenge than Ortiz.

Yes, Guerrero would be the smaller man. But he'd have a better chance than Ortiz did..http://ow.ly/8nxCm
Please delete all my threads in which I quote this so called writer.
He just lost all credibility IMO.
How is a blown up lightweight a bigger challenge than Ortiz?
The only thing Guerrero has different from Marquez is style, but that won't change the result in any way. Floyd will control the distance and throw jabs out of range, and Guerrero is neither fast nor powerful nor nothing.
To me the most scandalous is probably the fact that Guerrero is in the mix after beating nobody of mention, and ducked Maidana due to injury.
I dont see Guerro doing any better than Marquez did against Floyd. But I do see him doing better than Ortiz did.
His performance will be somewhere inbetween those two one sided fights and thats why I dont want to see it.
OK. But back to the point. Robert deserves this fight as much as Joan Guzman deserves Manny Pac.
Yup. I can't wrap my head around how someone like Guerrero deserves Mayweather. That just...doesn't make sense. No disrespect to him but what has he done to deserve that?
He's a lightweight still moving around in the ranks. He's way up there but to say, "Oh, okay. Yeah, skip directly to 147." is bogus.
Sure, Márquez did that by then it didn't matter. Márquez was a legend and God bless him for doing that number on Pacquiao in the third fight, but Guerrero hasn't been CONSISTENTLY proven. He's not a draw, he doesn't have a fanbase, he doesn't have an entertaining style, he's not coming off a sensational performance, he's not one weight class within Mayweather...
IT MAKES NO SENSE...LEGACY-WISE or FINANCIAL-WISE!
It'd be better to put Pacquiao, Martínez, Timothy Bradley, Cotto, Mike Jones, Berto, Canelo, Kirkland...or hell, even Margarito or an Ortiz rematch....
all of the above...against Mayweather...and they would be better than Robert Guerrero. It just makes no sense for Floyd to pick him.
I just can't see the angle he's playing. This has GOT to be a publicity stunt or a huge decoy or something because if this match-up DOES happen, I just can't see how it'll win any more fans or money. There's just no appeal or reward in fighting Guerrero IF you're Mayweather.
Guerrero is a tall southpaw with with speed and great feet. He'll give anyone problems my friend.
Better than ALI! Better than Ray Robinson! The greatest fighter ever... Mayweather must be shaking in his boots!!!! Like really really trembling in fear..
I'm still waiting for those few that think Guerrero could give Floyd a fight to tell me how.
Guerrero is a tall southpaw with with speed and great feet. He'll give anyone problems my friend.
Right, exactly. guerrero has a great jab he'd sit on the outside and pump that jab, it would be a little bit trickier for floyd and probably a more boring fight as well, but he'd last longer than ortiz and probably do better than marquez since marquez foolishly fought as the aggressor the entire fight which just isn't his game.
Stop trying to make shyt look like platinum..... This is a WACK AZZ FIGHT FOR THAT COWARD BYTCH BOY!!!!!!!
Whoever Mayweather fights would be a problem. He is facing someone young and under 30 but, we choose to look at who the other guy hasn't fought. If yall go by that logic then all of Mayweather's last opponents was a great choice because of who they fought. AND Guerrero is the same height if not taller than Mayweather so I don't see a problem. Any fighter has a chance im all for giving the underdog a chance.
stylistically he could give floyd some problems but quite obviously since guerrero has never fought at 140 or above, nor has he fought anyone elite, we all have no freakin clue.
That's one of the few truly intelligent and honest things I've seen anyone say about Guerrero on these forums.
didn't marquez duck guerrero? at least that's what guerrero has been saying...
jmm, rios , khan all ducked him according to him...guerrero is a nutcase man, the man aint even that good....he presents no trouble to any of these guys...
Let me be very clear...............Mayweather would stop Guerrero in 5 rounds.
Easy fight and pay day.
I won't buy it.
And I buy every Mayweather fight.
Your smoking crack if you think Floyd, with his little brittle hands is going to KO Guerrero. Floyd is a blown up 130 pounder. Stop talking like Floyd he's this big puncher. All the other fights out there cant be made, so why not embrace Guerrero. Its not like the kid cant fight. Who gives a crap about s h i t about weight classes. If you can fight you can fight. At the elite level its the fighters with great feat and jab that last the longest. Guerrero has both. I just want to see a good fight and Ghost is going to leave it all in the ring.
Easy fight for Floyd and a sh*t fight too. Floyd is by far my favorite fighter but if he fights Guerrero I'll be really pissed and will be the first time I wouldn't buy one of his fights.
In summary, f*ck this fight. :lol1:
he's not a pure aggressor so he's likely to go the distance
so in that sense, yes, it will be more of a challenge
however, guerrero was a light punching LW, there's just no way he's got pop that's even on the same planet as ortiz
easy floyd UD
if guerrero doesn't decide to go hard as he can early he'll get picked apart and figured out technically and floyd will make the decision for him by hitting him with litterally everything down the stretch
floyd wont fear anything guerrero has to offer, either
there's always a slight chance floyd will try and walk him down, which he's looked to do a bit more since he failed miserably attempting to stop marquez
if anything, only guerrero is the fighter among floyd's possible opponents that could have the patience to wait for floyd to initiate the exchanges. guerrero will fight him from the outside using his jab and i can see floyd being the aggressor in this fight.
of course floyd will still dominate him no matter how guerrero will fight him.
man, I'm not actually arguing for the fight (it would be a JOKE if it did) all I'm saying is stylistically I can see him giving floyd some problems, especially with his great jab (boxing isn't just about power you know). Floyd would obviously beat him but I bet you he lands more than 8 punches total or whatever the hell victor ortiz did.
The Ghost has to PROVE his worth and obviously he hasn't done that yet. I personally thought he was going to school maidana but unfortunately the injury occurred.
I can't see Guerrero doing any better then Marquez.
Ask Michael Woods.
He's yet to give me a reason.
All he said was the style would give Floyd issues.
That's a sh$t answer.
I've asked in two threads, and gotten no reply. It's easy to say "he's young and hungry" without giving a real answer, but that mean nothing. I don't care how young and hungry someone is, you still have to give a scenario for how a fighter can beat another fighter if you are trying to sell the fight as legit.
