Say what you want about MMA and the UFC but the fact is: Every weigh in both the president and the official matchmaker show their face and walk on to the stage. Every single fight. If **** like the #2 not fighting the #1 happened heads would definitely roll. No protected fighters there, even if they are legends - look at what happened to Chuck Lidell, a major legend. He had to fight the best to continue fighting and got KOed once too manytimes and had to quit. The Pacquiao of boxing - Fedor Emilianenko, a poser who was only good, not great has no chance to elude the people anymore. If it was boxing he's still be in a Pacquiao like position for sure. I could care less but on the other hand someone like Anderson Silva (the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA world) would never be unanimously recognized has the GOAT - doubt would riddle people's minds.
That leads me to conclude boxing is the sport for cowards afraid to roll the dice and let the victor take it all and cheats in general. I only come by sometimes to realize it's still the same **** as always. Sherdog is the place to be.
The role of commissions and media are too subdued in order to force fights to happen anymore. Mostly it's just leeches like Sulaiman along with journalists on the payroll of various promoters and fighters who do whatever they must in order to get paid, which means giving out favorable judgments and reviews to the boxers they happen to represent.
As a result we have no one who is able to make a fight such as Pacquiao-Mayweather take place, as belts are meaningless and the media have picked sides. Decades ago, these two would've been mercilessly attacked by journalists and stripped of their titles (even the great Ray Robinson was) had they not fought against the best.
I think the UFC have plenty of problems due to the fact that one person has been given such a large role in making matches and showcasing certain fighters, especially when that person happens to be rather temperamental and biased, which leads to unnecessary firings, under-paying and slander towards fighters that do not fit his ideal mold of what a UFC fighter should be (exciting and a money-maker). I do not think that's the answer since it makes mockery of a sport, it's just that people need to take responsibility and pride in what they do as journalists, commissioners, promoters and fighters.
Boxing fans should also be more vocal, the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao shouldn't be able to walk the streets without being heckled and ridiculed for not fighting each other. That's the only way to make it happen at this point. As of now it seems everybody is content on paying for these tune-up fights against lesser opponents and "left-overs" as long as they can see their hero in action.

Uh no.
The real problem with boxing is the numerous sanctioning bodies and promoters.
I almost wish that pro and college athletics did a switcheroo or adopted ways of scheduling (as opposed to choosing a beef/moderate/cake schedule before the season) like boxing whereas boxing could work like the NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL... even the UFC, and would just have one governing body to cut out the bs.
