Quillin and Barker turned down Andy Lee

stevemaxboxing Steve Kim It looks like Darren Barker and Peter Quillin have turned down the money being offered to face Andy Lee on March17 on HBO opener #boxing I could kind of understand Barker turning it down, but it's pretty stupid of Kid Chocolate to turn it down if he wants to set himself up as an opponent for Sergio. (unless he has something better planned) That makes Darren Barker, Peter Quillin, and Martin Murray that have said no. I want Dibella to bring in Proksa if possible.

This makes me upset. Quillin has skills, is a legit threat at MW, and I think he beats Lee by UD. That makes me pissed that Quillin turned down Lee, who's not really that great. This^^^^^^^^^^

Is Kid Chocolate is being taken advantage of? Was Lorenzo ever in the Lee fight?, Or was he was just a prop to get Quillen off the fence and take the Andy Lee fight for cheap money,? Word is he is now taking the fight so IMO it worked like a charm. Quillen is not as smart he thinks as he fell for one ofthe oldest fients in the book and now is working for slave wages, if he had just held out he would have gotten 2-3x as much as he's getting since he was the only one ever really there, LMAO

Martinez vs Macklin and Lee vs Quillin is a really good card, especially on St. Patrick's day in New York. If it happens, I think this has a really good chance of selling out. It's going to be in the theater, so it probably would be. Like others have said, I don't get why Quillin feels like he is so entitled to things. Especially since he's fighting out of the Bronx, it would be a perfect chance to gain some fans.

Hey Pete, its a shame you didn't go out and beat Lee, but why make us wait till Wednesday, give us a hint on why you didn't take the fight please? I don't know if that guy really represents Quillin, but if he's legit, I think the message from his post is that he is indeed fighting Lee. Why would we be hearing more about it at Lee's press conference if Quillin isn't the opponent?

peter quillin rubs me the wrong way he's already on the internet radio shows pricing himself out of fights the guy has done next to nothing and is awfully entitled for such a young pro

Well, how much were they offered?? I know many people will say it shouldn't matter because beating Lee is a launch-pad to bigger fights, but even then...if Lee is getting paid an amount that's drastically higher than theirs, i can kinda understand. I wanna hear more news on this.

It's become a common problem in the sport where fighters nowadays want to take shortcuts, they want to call out the top guys in their division but don't want to earn it. This right here is sad, and Quillin would beat Andy Lee.
