If you are looking for the best chins i think you have to look outside the great boxers. Possibly guys like Mercer and McCall types, who werent the greatest boxers, but hung in there because of their chins.
Mercer was being hammered by Morrison but cos of his chin got morrison out, and look at Mercer vs Lennox. Split decision. Mercers superior chin to lennox, put him on an even playing field with Lennox in a dog fight.
by the way just for the record Vitali Klitschko has a better chin than all 3 of these guys but I understand this is a poll of older legends not current legend
I would say Holyfield but the comeback Foreman had a great chin. Maybe having a bit of fat helps your chin or maybe your chin gets better with age.
Maybe there's more or less cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain.
There's a PHd thesis right there.
as good as foreman's beard was, i just don't know how one can say anyone has better chin or heart than Oldyfield. Only the atomic bull at heavyweight has a better chin than oldyfield
holyfield had the best recooperative abilities
foreman's size probably gives him the outright ability to take the best shot of the three, but he was also the easiest to hit in his prime // pre layoff with big punches.
serious beards on them throughout their careers.
I agree. Holyfield had an amazing ability to recover and incredible determination.
Ali is feather fisted.
I say in the words of the Great Richard Pryor regarding Ali's fist "People keep saying 'Ali, he has no punch...' But he steady keep knockin muthafukas out!!!..."

I'm going Foreman, even though he was down the most between the three. He could take unbelievable bombs.
It's a close one between Foreman and Holyfield imo.
Tyson clearly has the worst chin of the three. He didn't have a bad chin but it doesn't match up with Foreman's or Holyfield's.
I didn't say his chin isn't as good as these guys. I'm not asking who had the best chin in HW history, just who had the best out of these guys.
Oh i see. Maybe Lennox lewis could answer as hes fought Tyson and Evander, but not Foreman i guess.
But again, i doubt Evanders chin was as hard as mercers in reply to someone who said Evander had the hardest chin in history. Evander maybe the best boxer to chin ration in history. But then, again Ali wouldnt be far off as well.
Got to go with Foreman, even at a later age he was able to take so many punches that landed flush.
Lennox said after the Tyson fight that he hit Tyson's chin with great punches and he was able to take them.
Holyfield having a good chin was also resilient
Mercer had also a great chin and Oliver McCall
Are we saying RaY mercer dont belong in this company?

If Toney was in the thread then P4P I'd vote for him. Not overall though.
Yea Toney p4p.......I mean he was a blown up super middlweight eating punches from big punching heavyweights.
